Hi Polk group, I'm setting up my 2nd HT & audio in my basement. This is what I have so far. 46" Samsung HD, DirectTV genie client, RTi12's in front, New Marantz 7701 AV processor, one Carver M500t amp powering my 12's. So right now I'm just running my 12's as stereo audio for my TV. Before I installed my new 7701 AV, I just had stereo with the 12's, & my used C1 pre, M500t amp, & TX11a tuner, and just used the TV's own speakers for audio while watching TV. I disconnected the C1 & TX11a for now. Might put them in garage system. I have CSi5 ctr, pair of RTi6's, & pair of FXiA6's coming from Polk this next week.
This is my question. Need advice on the amplifier power for these speakers. Was planning on a 7 channel amp, but am not sure. Should I keep the M500t for the 12's and get a good 5 channel amp for the rest of spkr's or get separate amps for the pairs, or what do you think. I want the amps to match up with each other, so am not sure what to do there. Will the M500t match up okay you think with other quality 5 channel amps (e.g. Marantz, etc.)? My size of the listening & viewing is about 16 ft wide and about 25 ft deep, at one end of my basement cave. My budget is in area of $1,250 for the amp power & cabling. I'd like to go new, however if I could get refurbished, that would be okay too. Thanks for any of your expert advice. jao

Hi jao and welcome to the club. Since you like Marantz gear, why not try this piece. You could use it the power your center, side and rear surrounds.

Thanks, I think I'm going with a new Marantz 7705 5 ch'l amp for the ctr, sides, & back.

that is always a good option too, I use a Adcom 5503 to power my front 3 and let my AVR power the 2 surrounds.2 ch- Polk CRS+ * Vincent SA-31MK Preamp * Vincent Sp-331 Amp * Marantz SA8005 SACD * Project Xperience Classic TT * Sumiko Blue Point #2 MC cartridge

I did get the Marantz 7055 5 ch'l amp. So my M500-t is powering my front RTi12's. The 7055 is powering the ctr CSi5 and the FXiA6 surrounds. Don't have the back RTi6's hooked up yet. Those FXiA6's are out of this world. Like them so much that now I am considering getting another pair for the back surrounds and save the RTi6's for something else. The Marantz 7701 pre-pro and 7055 amp with the M500-t really works nice.
