I need a dual blade interconnect...!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I recently purchased a pair of SDA - 2B's from the local Savers. I acquired them for $14.99+tax (for both). I felt it was a good deal.

I started doing research on these and found out that they require a interconnect cable to be fully utilized.

They sound good but I want them to be used to their full capabilities.

Can anyone please please please educate me on how to manufacture the cable I need or where I would be able to find one at a reasonable price.

I would love to be able to hear them at their true potential....

Thank you in advance.....

Are you sure it's the blade/blade type and not the pin/blade type?

  • I'm positive. It's two blades. One larger than the other. Similar to power plug but smaller.

I tried the RCA cord method but it won't fit of course. That's when I found out it was blade/blade.

    I have triple checked.

Ok, those are early 2B's. You can buy the cable from Polk, CALL them to order. It runs about $45.00.

Good thing is you got them that cheap.
Bad thing is that you have to pay more for the interconnect. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

What kind of amplification are you running these with? You could be in for a very unpleasant experience upon hooking up the i/c cable. In case your research hasn't uncovered it, you need a common ground amp to power these. If unsure, you can contact the manufacturer of your amplifier.

If you plan on making your own cable, I'm pretty sure I have a couple of extra blade/blade connectors that are yours for the asking.

  • Hey Guys, I don't know if my receiver is or is not common ground. I have been trying to find out what that even is.

I also think I have a bigger problem.

The left speakers make almost a farting rumble type noise when the bass hits.

    The right speaker sounds perfect.

Is this a blown sub or something? any info would be greatly appreciated.

I am using a Pioneer amp now. I forget the model number.

I have numerous HI-FI receivers and they all cause the noise.

do I need to replace something or am I just screwed?

That "sub" is actually a passive radiator. Not an active driver at all.

Did the farting rumble just start or has it done it since you got them?

I just made my own cable not long ago. I took male crimp on spade connectors. Ground them down to fit right and crimped them onto a pair of speaker cables. Not the best or prettiest, but works great for the time being.

  • I have yet to get the interconnect.

But they have always had that noise since I got them.

I thought it was from having my turntable on top of them.

But now with no turntable and using the tuner on my multiple receivers it does it. The right one sounds great though.

Sounds like a shifted magnet on a mid/woofer. Very common problem on these speakers. There are a couple of threads on fixing them on here, but it's a real pain in the ****. Polk has replacements for some mid/woofers, if they don't you'll have to try ebay. Less likely is a damaged passive.

I believe all receivers are common ground, you should have an amp for these and that's when you need to know if it is common ground or not.
