Well, the only way to know is to try one of these units out. IMO, if you buy new buy one that you plan to keep awhile. The value of AVR's, HT Pre/pro drop pretty fast.

Thats why you go super high end used, you can flog em for what you paid.

Which is all well and good till you lose a HDMI board with no warranty to fix it on....

Hence why this purchase for me will be from a authorized dealer/reseller.

I know HDMI board failures are more rare nowadays, but I dont want to chance it with something this pricey...

Well that may be right, my last Anthem D2v board failed on me and I had to sell it on ebay for $1000 less and then pay bay fee's ontop.

Who are you kidding Dan? You will not have time for PS4 or XB1! You have a kid go outside. Halo is for girls!!! :p

If it seems like I'm yelling, i am!!

I'm in the Anthem camp like PFB but am actually a little confused. You're looking for an awful lot of HDMI inputs. By my count, I see you needing 3, maybe 4 tops. (Htpc, 360 soon to be One, uverse, and maybe a dedicated blu if the One doesn't suffice). Is your B&K 5 or 2? Why not a pre/pro?

    The masses demand answer!!!#&$($(%!&@7%?2947$-#9!!!!

Yup and I go outside.... till its winter and there is snow and the kid is in bed...... then its adult time......

Halo is one way I blow off steam from my decently stressful job. Its an outlet I do need and one that helps keep me level.

Here is what I have now

    WDLive TV
    Blu-ray Player
    Xbox 360
    Uverse
    Squeezebox Classic (16/44.1)

Here is what I want to add

HTPC - remove WD Live TV and maybe blu-ray player
    Xbox One
Keep Xbox 360 (games not backwards compatible)
    Uverse
Networked high rez audio - remove squeezebox classic

So that leaves me with NO HDMI left over.... so since this AVR was a 6 year investment, do I want to be full up with no options to add anything else in the future?

Or a better question to ask myself is, do I want to pay somewhere around 700-800 dollars for JUST EQ?

The answer to that for me is no. The Anthem 300 & 500 may have a decent number of HDMI's, but no way to playback network audio besides internet radio, and even then I have to get the MRX 500. I also have no flexibility to add more speakers if the urge hit me. The 3xx series anthems are 5 channel, the 5xx & 7xx series are only 7.1. Every other AVR has at least 9.2 in that same price range if not more.

So EQ alone isnt the ONLY feature I want. Its the MAIN one, but I want to plan for more devices in the future.

The Anthem MRX 510 is only 7.1 and has a decent number of HDMI's but its over budget.

So Anthem is nice, but its just not got enough flexibility to GROW with me for the next years.

However its a moot point since my wife's car just went into the shop with a blown transmission so there goes any upgrade money this year and likely next.

Sorry to hear about the transmission. You know I went thru that last year with the wife's car and am still digging out of that hole due to multiple complications financially since.

You could just find a good medical majiu**** dispensery, stay stoned, get a Bose radio and call it a day.....

Kidding. Lot's of options out there and it's obvious you have done considerable research to find what will meet your needs. I'm sure you will find the right piece when the time comes. Good luck and hope to talk to you this week.

Dan, seems like what you want to add is also replacing some existing components, so not necessarily adding more HDMI inputs. Doesn't matter anyway champ, get what you want and call it a day. My vote is for the Marantz pre/pro.

This is correct, but all that wont happen at once. So the HTPC may not happen, whereas the WD Live TV & Blu-ray player I already have

Regardless I dont want to be stuck with 4 HDMI's as I can forsee having more than 4 devices needing HDMI and I dont want to have to screw with adding a HDMI switch to the system.

Thats likely what we will be doing so its either the 7008 or 7009 (if its a low enough price when I buy).

Dear god!....stick her with public transportation! What would be better, a new Marantz or your wife getting oogled on a public bus?...I think the answer is pretty clear here........

I'm not pushing Anthem, just biased B) . that marantz has a lot of shiney parts and should be just fine. Odd how they still insist on the plethora of unnecessary inputs.

Wait and see if the price drops around thanksgiving or cyber Monday. You could probably sneak away better than you think. If you'd like, sell your Halo helmet to me and I'll return pictures of me eating soup out of it.

Actually thats one item not for sale, along with the Reach statue, my Halo 2 Legendary Xbox, Halo 3 Legendary Xbox 360, all the games, and my Bungie beer stein.
