I've gone Rogue!

Over the summer I picked up a pair of M-180 mono blocks from Agon. I was somewhat pleased, no regrets, but not thrilled either . . .
Then things started to turn a little hinkey, I've never use that word before, but it seems appropriate here . . . Bias wouldn't stay put on most of them, then a fuse blew At Low Volumn. wtf???

I'm new to tube amps (i.e. learning curve)
Today I rolled some brand new KT-120s in and the difference is unbelievable. The base is tight the highs are crisp and the sound stage is wider, too. Also, the gain is unbelievable, like really loud at 10 o'clock ... I'm very pleased

Rogue says I should get about 2500 hours out of the new tubes
They're pricey, but from what I'm hearing, it's not a huge issue. But if someone knows where good quality KT120s can be had, I'm all ears!

The point of the post is, if you been running some tubes for an extended period, consider new ones . . . Just say'n, ymmv

    Do you have those mono blocks pair with your Cary Slp-98? and using your SRS2's ? but that sounds pretty good.

    Hey Glenn, The M-180's are an option that I lust for, I'm a Rogue fan and I would love to own a pair one day.

    I bought my KT-120's from Rogue also, they are the $hit$ for sure.

    I would imagine if your driving SDA's, you are hearing a little slice of heaven!

    I rotated the SRSs out in the spring when I picked up the Salk Song Towers. I may be moving up the Salk line but the SRSs will be rotated back in for a while

    Sounds like a nice system you have there Glenn. Hey, I'm always in town to visit family...if you ever feel like opening your doors for a listen I sure would take you up on it....just throwing that out there....if not I understand. :smile:


    ...and the Soundscape 8's are my ..."if I ever come into good fortune speaker"....also. Those and the Exotica 3s at the show were such a sight for the eyes and ears...And the thought that you can order your own custom finish would seal the deal for me. Still waiting on some riches from the stock market or the lotto first, LOL!

    Just briefly . . . Jim is very accomadating, but the shop is always busy. What I've heard, all Salk offerings sounds fantastic, especially the SS8s ! It's a very large open warehouse type setting, not set-up for critical listening. The sound can only improve when you set them up in your listening space
