lsi7's or fxi a6's

I have a chance to pick up a new pair of fxi a6's at 1/2 price. I'm currently using lsi7's for my rear surrounds. Anyone know if the 6's would expand the rear field or not worth the change? I'm currently running lsi15's for the fronts, center ( along with a lsic ), wides and back, lsi9 front highs, the 7's in the rear and 2 505 subs. Timbre match probably won't matter since they're rears. 6's are 8ohm which is O.K. since will have a dedicated amp. The room is 17' x 28'. Any opinions? Thanks, Jamie

I would go with the fxia6 for rear surrounds. That will expand the rear field. Nice system you have!!! Welcome to the forum.

7's, especially if you listen to any concert blu-rays or 5 channel music.

Too late to edit, but I should add that I replaced my FXiA6's with LSi7's. For me it's a backwards move, but others may disagree.

I put the LSi 7's in the rear position and moved the LSI F/X's to the sides...having the direct reflectors in the rear sound better in my room as one side of it is open. Room correction is key in either case.... Experiment and see what sounds better if you can.

  • O.K. I'll pick up the 6's for back up and experimentation maybe put them to upper wides? I'm using a Marantz 8003 pre/pro using both balanced and un/ bal. outs with emo xpa5 and rotel 1075 and a carver tfm 25 for backs.
  • I've looking at a pair of sunfire srs 210's to replace the 505's good move or not, high power and look sweet111

Considering there is not a lot of true 7.1 material out there, your benefit may not be that significant
  • Yes, but I'm basically running this in 10.2 with the 8003 and the soundfield is amazing, even though alot of the material is 5.1 the depth is amazing
