Well just when you thought pp could not get anymore Fk'd up they go and do this. Now when you sell something you can get some joker returning it up to 6 months after he has bought it. How many guys here get bored with something they bought 5 months later? Imagine what this is going to do to the marketplace.

Source? I just checked and it still says 45 days to file claim.

Relax, Its not that big of a deal. Its designed to increase international transactions.
"We’re increasing the time for buyers to file a merchandise dispute (Item Not Received and Significantly Not as Described) from 45 days to 180 days."
If I'm selling used audio equipment I will include the wording "as is". This way it is as described and boredom will not be an acceptable dispute.HT- Samsung PN50B860/Integra DTR 30.3/Rt55 Fronts

Here is a cut and paste from a paypal email I got this morning " Starting November 18, buyers will have up to 180 days to file a dispute. In addition, custom-made products will be eligible for PayPal Buyer Protection coverage if the item was not received. Make sure to retain proof of delivery and other evidence of your transaction for at least 180 days to be eligible for Seller Protection. If you receive a claim from a buyer, keep these updates in mind and respond in the Resolution Center as usual. For more detail on all of the User Agreement changes taking effect on November 18, take a look at our Policy Updates page."
When you say you will include the word 'as is' then how will anyone know? The ebay listing is only opened for 60 days. Or your tracking info disappears after so many days so what then? I dont know but it seems like some one can say they never even received the item 150 days later? When one insures his good then doesnt that mean that they can open the box 179 days later and claim and your up brown creek? -
OK, I dug through my inbox. I actually received the email on Oct 9th with this link:
https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/ua/upcoming-policies-full
It doesn't really say whether it will apply to eBay transactions. I wonder if this is in light that eBay and PayPal are becoming separate entities again after all these years. For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore... -
Bill I dont think the two can be diff, if one checks out with PP then one gets 180 days.

Even 45 days is too long.Political Correctness'.........defined

Hay PFB! Speaking of such deals.....what ever happened with your several thousand dollar McIntosh deal that went bad? Why couldn't you just report it as never received, as you say someone could now do at day 179?

Reading over this, it really is BS. I don't care how they justify it (some are saying it is PayPal's way of avoiding CC charge-backs), it is not fair to sellers. For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

It sounds extreme, but so does 45 days. 99% of all legit returns are well before the current time limit. I've had a few odd buyer related returns (box knife opening) issues, but for the most part, issues are few. I've sold over 2000 items in 18 months with 8 total returns. I would welcome a competing payment plan to PP though if ever offered as I believe the % to PP to be excessive for instant transactions. 3% is an annual rate, not an overnight rate......HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable

Not worried about you, PFB (at least not in this instance!), just wondering HOW it played out. What did you have to do to get your funds back? How smoothly did it go? How long did it take? What did you have to provide to PP as proof, etc., etc.? What info can you provide us here that might help some others so that they might possibly be able to avoid such debacles, as either a buyer or a seller using PayPal?

This is exactly why buying here is the best plan and using PP as a gift is the only safe bet for the seller. I have always had great transactions here."Make a man a fire and he'll be warm for a day. Light
