I actually have a top of the line Onkyo TX-NR5008 that I have been working on that had several issues. I got it from a shop that wanted to get rid of it. It was missing screws, and had a broken speaker post on the surround channel, the DAC board was cracked due the a stuck screw. Incidentally, It was working but developed the no sound issue. Onkyo fixed that even though the unit is out of warranty but would not deal with another issue. The unit has static in one surround channel with Audyssey turned on. This is a know issue that they should have fixed under their current Special Service Agreement http://www.onkyousa.com/Support/service_info.php

They denied it claiming I was not the original purchaser. Which I'm sure is because of the fact that the unit was open and worked on with damage. Anyway, I got the correct screws, fixed the speaker post, and repaired the DAC board. I'm sure an authorized service center can fix the noise issue but I don't want to put anything more into. Also, Onkyo won't sell boards and my other unit, a TX-NR3008 is working out fine for me. Anyway, I checked the preamp and amp board and found no bad components so the issue must be with the Audyssey chip/board I guess?

$300-$400 is what I was going to try and get for it on ebay. If someone can get this repaired for $200-$300 this would be a BOSS of a unit.

Not something everyone wants to deal with but working units seem to go for about $450-$800 on ebay without and with the accessories.
