I've been watching Central Jersey C/L for months now and it seems that nothing is selling. Is this seasonal, or people asking too much after they look prices of items sold on EBay? I've seen Bose 901s in every series w/ and with out eqs and both again w/ stands and some not . 1 guy has some nice stuff but I don't need anything else as my friend says my living rooom is looking like a Crazy Eddies Show room only neater.

I sold a pair of AR-9LS yesterday. Exit 5 on the turnpike.
Everybody is a big-time wheeler dealer these days. I see grandmothers stocking up on vintage audio when I go out. A lot of people who don't belong in the equation are now well represented because of the internet. -
From my experience, spring/summer/fall is not that active when the weather is nice outside.
May be because there are a lot of garage sales for people to get things.
Or people are happy doing other things in nice weather months like hiking, camping etc...
Once winter/cold weather hits that's when I get a lot of emails for my audio ads.
People want to enjoy music indoors when it's freakin snowing outside.
If priced low, they sell in any time regardless.
I sold 3 items just last week.
Klipsch RB81, KG3.5, B&W DM602.5, Polk.

I really couldn't tell you. Our CL is not moving much these days, though? And I'm not in the market for much.
I'd trust George and Mystery above; they're more active.

summer and fall always seem slower. Winter and early spring always seem best around here and on the bay too from what i have been able to tell, at least from a sellers standpoint. If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of Progress?!

I thought about this comment last night, for some reason. Damn, I'm a grandfather, and have stocked up myself. Just one of those times that it settled in that I am an aging individual. I bet htere are a good bit of grandparents that have stocked up on vintage gear.
I know what you meant though, there are a lot of people that you would not imagine stockingup on vintage gear just to try to turn a quick buck. I have mentioned that to my wife on many occasions. people like that are kind of messing the hobby up for some people; the ones that cant afford to get into it on a huge budget. A lot of the fun when I started was finding great gear at such affordable prices. It will eventually collapse in on itslef and prices will come back down on the vintage stuff. That will hurt some and help others.

The internet is certainly changing the game. I'm not a huge buyer and I don't sell at all, but I'm a bit of a looky-loo.
The initial comment about prices being based off of ebay sales strikes a chord for me. On my local CL is a decent, but not amazing, Pioneer turntable that's being offered for $750. I got a thought when I saw that and looked at completed eBay sales; the same model had just sold 'somewhere in the world' for the same price. So that becomes the asking price for a local sale? In all probability the ebay sale was probably the result of shill bidding, or a crazy international collector/buyer, or blindly lucking into two bidders that were trying to re-created the system that their dear, departed dad used to have back in the 1979.
That local Pioneer is passing down the CL list for the 6th time, it's never going to sell for anything like that price locally. I jumped at CL for my Pioneer TT; I paid for the entire deck what the headshell usually sells for on the 'bay.Jay

Unless you're over 65, I really wouldn't call you a Grandpa or Grandma for that matter. And hey, have you "seen" what some 65 year olds look like these days? If well kept, exercising and dieting they don't look a day over 50! lol In fact, many of them look better than some of the B-cue eating, beer drinking Polkies in their late 40s and early 50s with those pot bellies hanging out their pants, getting ready for their first bypass, if you know what I mean? STAY LEAN and keep those BELLIES under 39" if you don't want a heart attack, preferably even below 36"?
Remember what you weighed senior year in H.S. and try NOT to be more than 15 lbs over that! Unless you've built a LOT of MUSCLE since then, and I don't mean STOMACH MUSCLE!
