This could be important for a lot of people. In my case, it was a cherry bomb accident in high school. For many others, it might be too many rock concerts. I hope this pans out.

lol! I have a bad case of that as well, seems like I have to groom more and more regularly. And even my Doctor was aghast at how much hair is IN the ear, not just what grows outside!

Last year, I had a Eustachian tube swell up and close sucking my eardrum in and causing a reduction in hearing--about 50 percent of normal. Took 10 days of some steroidal meds to take down the swelling; and my hearing in both ears actually went from a high of 14Khz (for the last few years) to a solid 15Khz. The "old" dude gained a 1000 Hz, if you can believe that. I was delighted because the gain seems to still be there a year later! Makes you wonder just what your ears are doing to themselves. Of course I still have mild tinnitus but I can usually tune it out and ignore it most of the time. I have to actually listen for it during "silence"!

Still, if this stuff can boost us back to 17-18Khz that would be nice!

Oh to be a teenager today! Imagine the Medical breakthroughs by 2065? A lifespan of 135? The ability to regenerate vision, hearing, etc. Repair aging joints, increase flexibility and agility, mental acuity and memory? And, eventually, a complete understanding of the "aging" process and an END to AGING! Yeah. We were born just 50 to 60 years too early!

If I could go back and redo it knowing what I know now i would have protected my hearing!

  • I did a lot of concerts, and played in bands for years, but the most damage came from over a million miles on the highway listening to the radio for 3 hours at a time. You know when you get back into your car and you swear that someone turned up the volume while you were out. Yep, I'm that guy, a volume creeper. I never realized how many times I would crank when a good song came on, only to never turn it back down and wouldn't realize how high I was listening until I returned to the car after a stop. Constant tinnitus now.
