Wow this is an old thread! I'm wondering what the opinions out there are on what software you use to do the ripping.......like Windows Media Player (Windows 10) vs say Cyberlink Power2Go (Lenovo computer also came with this one). Any perceived or measured differences in quality of end result? Has anybody ever used different programs and checked the hashtags of the resultant files to see if they are identical?

Maybe it's just my OCD (lol) that makes me wonder about these things but if I'm going to digitize my entire CD collection I want to do it right.

I use EAC (Exact Audio Copy) to rip my CDs. It gets the information of the CD from the internet and can bring in artwork as well.

    It's free.

You can choose parameters on how to pull the information from the CD as well. You can set Error recovery quality to ensure that you have "bit for bit" copy of the music. I set my quality to High here to ensure things are ripped the best. It does take a little longer, but I find it worth it.

You can rip to flac or wav format depending if you want to compress the files or not.

Just my two cents on what I have used for my music collection.

Drives are in a fireproof safe..but haven't updated that project in a year. More work to do.
