    Bunch of maroons.

That bad fossil fuels thing again. What they don't realize is coal/oil are probably the 2 main things responsible for this countries wealth and growth. Oil and it's petrochemical by-products are responsible for the clothes they wear, the shoes on their feet, their eye glasses, cups for their Starbucks, and everything else they see or touch. Oil and coal provide energy for businesses which employ people in mass amounts. Wind and solar while viable in smaller doses, can't replace them.

Alternate energy sources, as of now, are good for supplemental purposes. They simply don't have what it takes to make fossil fuels go away....and if a power source ever showed it's face to make that happen, you would never see it until it could be controlled and taxed by the big guns.

I wonder if they used recycled plastic to make that blow-up coal plant? But hold it were did the plastic come from for the recycled plastic. I also wonder if the plastic holding those toxic chemicals in those batteries was also recycled?

Do you realise that having coal available to people in 3rd world countries would improve their economies health and over all way of life. Today many of them still burn Dung, wood, tires and plastics etc. to cook and heat their hovels. Coal would be 100 times cleaner and safer for them and would greatly reduce the pollutive footprint that they are creating now. It ain't the greatest but would be a huge improvement.

Right now, I think the US needs to focus on energy independence, not greenhouse gas production and global warming.

If we don't, we may not survive as a nation long enough to have to worry about the deleterious effects of global warming.

It's always a good idea to keep an eye on the long-term consequences of actions and policies, but when short-term issues are matters of survival, it's better to put "all your wood behind one arrow" to solve these short-term crises.

As far as I can tell, we're on it:
