Budget Integrated Amp for Older Brother

I'm building a 2 channel setup for my older brother. Simplicity is key, so I'm looking for an integrated with built in DAC (phono preferred) to go with the Pioneer SP-BS22-LR's (speakers are still open to debate). I have stands for him already and an old JBL powered sub that will match the speakers. Max budget is $300 and I'm thinking used to maximize his dollars. Have at er' boys!

Check eBay to see if Harman Kardon still has some 3490 refurbs for sale... Think they are around that price direct from them and have a warranty.....

My 3490 was DA BOMB!
If I hand't gone with massive speakers, I'da kept it and bought a set of LSi 7's and called it...
Now this amp doesnt have 4 ohm specs but should do decent..
Otherwise the 3490 has a BIG following and its got 4 ohm rating AND pre-outs....

Nice! What is the Harmon Kardon sound signature like? Sounds like the 3490 is worth the extra coin...

So your looking for either an integrated amp or a receiver then if a receiver like that Hk suits your fancy get it I've heard both of those HK's good units for the price. If your looking for a Integrated Amp Yamaha has a couple nice ones but they are more than that HK plus you would need a tuner. So for that price a receiver like those HK's should work.Home Theater

I am going to have to agree with the HK 3490 suggestion over an intigrated amp also. I have a few reasons. Its a Darn good sounding for the $. If your going to run a sub sat setup. It has a built in crossover with sub out. Using the internal crossover will let the Pioneer SP-BS22- and a subwoofer actually run a little bit more efficient then trying to run the 22's at full range and a sub as well as tighten up the sound itself. BTW the speakers are darn good for the $ and with a sub, even better!Klipsch The Nines, Audioquest Thunderbird Interconnect, Innuos Zen MK3 W4S recovery, Revolution Audio Labs USB & Ethernet, Border Patrol SE-I, Audioquest Niagara 5000 & Thunder, Cullen Crossover II PC's.
