PSW10 Connection Issue

Hello,
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I purchased a PSW10 subwoofer on Amazon last summer. I'm having an issue with the connection and I was curious if anyone has experienced something similar or could offer any advice.

http://cdn.head-fi.org/6/6d/6dd5439a_attachment.jpeg - Here's a link to what the back of the sub looks like.

So I'm running a single cable between my Pioneer receiver and the L input on the PSW10. Basically if I'm applying any pressure on the cable (securing the connection to the subwoofer with my hand) the speaker will work; however, when I let go the sound will totally cut out. I believe this issue has gotten worse. I used to be able to adjust the cord to get around the problem, but at this point it pretty much doesn't work without having pressure applied. I've tried a cable being used elsewhere in the house and had the same issue. I've also tried running it through the R input on the PSW10 and am having the same thing happen there.

I'm not sure what my options are. If I should try to open the speaker box or extend/secure the cable somehow?

I appreciate any feedback.

Thanks!!!

  • Hello,
Welcome to Polk's forum. In all likelihood you have a defective ground connection on the RCA connections on the bass amplifier. You can contact Polk's CS department at 1-800-377-7655 or send them an email to polkcs@polkaudio.com and they will help you with rectifying the problem.
In the meantime the sub-woofer will work fine with a right and left speaker wire connection from the front speaker outputs on your receiver to either the right or left speaker level inputs on the sub. If you've set the front speakers to "small" in your receiver's setup you'll have to return the front setting to "large".
