Any thoughts for garage set up

Polkies,
I'm working on my garage and looking for ideas on what speakers to go with. I have a Pioneer 1121 that I will use for power, and just need to know which speakers would be a great fit. I'm planning to mount a 40" LED smart tv next to the wall cabinets.
I just finished painting the garage a steel grey with burgundy stripe. The flooring will be done shortly after, however I'm ready to knock the media portion out.

Nice space. What kind of budget are we talking?
Could just go "cheap" with some A.Jones speakers and a sub, or up the budget? Or go used with real garage speakers that just pound because they're super efficient!

I'd like to keep it at 2-300ish if possible CNH. What would you consider real garage speakers?

Took a little organizing, moving things out and additional storage but in the end it came out great. I got a lil more painting to do since I'll be doing some art afterward.

Some Old School Big Box speakers. Like JBL three way 12", or the classic Garage Speaker, any old 12-15" Cerwin Vega, or any classic Polk Monitor 10 or larger!
I guess it depends on what kind of music you're going to listen to!

I would look into the BIC RTR's. Big speaker , very efficient, budget friendly and comes with a five year warranty. Oh yeah they weigh just over 70lbs too.

But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. What I am tryin to say is, is that the course of your life, well its changing, and you don't even see it- Forest Bondurant -
Bose 901 would be cool for a garage, mounted from the ceiling.Vinyl, the final frontier...
Avantgarde horns, 300b tubes, thats the kinda crap I want... -
Wish you were closer. These would be great. Can't believe I've had no takers...

We recently bought a new house. I have a nice garage and a huge powered shed that need some tunes. Is that a sickness LOL?
Guess it is time for a new garage rig. Would like to get it done by spring and stay under a couple hundred bucks.
Thoughts or suggestions? IPod will be my source. -

Nice, big pair of Bozak would fit that bill, and be a lot easier on the ears than JBL's or C-V's, especially in that environment. The B-302A is pretty nice, and so is the "Tempo". The B-302A can be found almost anywhere. The "Tempo" can take some looking. Both feature 12" infinite baffle woofer design. I've bought and sold B-302A for as little as $100/pair (usually I sell them for more, but the last few were to friends). The "Tempo" I got for naught. I showed up for a radio station gig one night and they were acting as monitors and holding up the board at the same time. I asked the DJ going off what the deal was, and he told me he picked them up from the end of somebody's driveway that morning on the way in. A week later they were mine, and they cost me a Ella Fitz cd that I had and he wanted.
Bozaks have very few things "wrong", and are neutral to the point of boring. I would still have a pair of those as my garage speaks, but I have this humongous pair of E-V "Marquis" in there already. -
Damn that is a nice looking garage! Monitor 7/10/12 perhaps?--Gary--
Onkyo Integra M504, Bottlehead Foreplay III, Denon SACD, Thiel CS2.3, NHT VT-2, VT-3 and Evolution T6, Infinity RSIIIa, SDA1C and a few dozen other speakers around the house I change in and out. -
Why don't you hang some Atrium's in there? Should blend in nicer with the clean garage, and will handle changes in temperature and humidity better than a "home" speaker. I've been seeing them in Newegg sales for under $100/pr lately.Ludicrous gibs!
-
Bozaks are a great choice. Good bass, clean, loud and not that hard to drive, plus they look cool (BIG). But just where does one find them that cheap George? Up here people "milk" the prices on any pair they have. You just can't get a good deal on them!
No matter, it's hitting -10 tonight so garage rigs aren't something that's possible up here. Winters will tear them up!
Good luck, the climate is a LOT milder where you are so you won't have these problems. I have a pair of Rodgers Sound Lab 12" three ways that are waiting for a warmer climate for garage duty!

Doesn't look like a garage to me at least not like mine . Maybe I can get mine better organized once I retire.

FYI, the Atrium 4's are $80/pr on Newegg right now. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882290182Ludicrous gibs!

What about it being all about the bass, bass, bass, no treble?

I think I have decided on some Polk Monitor 7A and a Teac CD player (that has inputs for an iPod). For power, either a vintage pioneer or maybe the matching Teac stereo. Nice garage you got there Sherardp!
