Ideas for my Mom

Visited my Mom today and she mentioned she would like to have some sort of
"kitchen" counter top cd/radio player. She had a wave radio from bose years ago and seemed to like it which has since quit working.
I suggested a simple separate component system. That was veto'd , just wants a simple one piece. Kitchen and nook area is about +/- 16' X 26'. Like to stay under 500.00.
Thanks all.

Well for radios of that ilk, I like Tivoli and Sangean. CD players are kind of obsolete now in the real world (as opposed to Luddite bastions like my house), though, unfortunately...
That said, Tivoli used to have a product with a CDP built in -- at this point, it looks like they still do, but it's marketed as a hifi stereo and a tad more expensive (and I've never heard nor seen one in the flesh).
Still, I'd opine that it's worth a look -- www.tivoliaudio.com -
Thanks, will check it out.
I have an older denon avr and a cd player. I figure I will add my set of 5 jr's to the mix which will only be 4 pieces. Maybe she will like it.
Problem is she wants something that fits on her kitchen counter top so she can listen to music while she paints which is being done in the nook area at the moment. TKS for the info... -
What is her source?

Great ideas, didn't even think of the tablet thing.
She had a health scare few months back "all is great" now, uses painting as a therapy/release.
Probably go ahead and take over a few things, set it up and see how it goes. -
+1 on the Tivoli products if you want a more traditional radio/stereo - added bonus they are also Bluetooth and have a pretty good sound, we use them in my hotel as well. OTOH - some of the new Bluetooth speakers really sound amazing, have a buddy who as a circular Harman Kardon that sounds fantastic, and even my little JBL Flip is amazing sounding for how small it is and the short money it costs ($89).VA HT HK AVR20II, Sony S9000ES CD/DVD/SACD, Polk Audio RC80i / Polk Audio CSi3, 60" Panasonic Plasma, Nordost / Signal Cable A2 / Wireworld / Pangea / Magic Power

I would ask first about the tablet. She may not be interested. Old folks....depending on how old of course, like things simple. Rotary dials, push buttons, nothing too complicated.

Certainly Tivoli will work. There are also other options. Here's some new stuff from Yamaha that seems to play almost "everything", including CDs. A little pricey but you can get refurbs/discounts on accessories4less.com

Plus it comes in different "colors" for those who care?
