Loved him back in the day. He was 76, and apparently it was some kind of cancer he succumbed to.

That's too bad, good band, their hits held up over time. Lindsay must still be putting out solo stuff.

They were a pretty good band. I read somewhere that they held the record for the most appearances on the Dick Clark show

Apparently with the new forum censorship it's the "Richard" Clark show...

You mean to say they censored D-I-C-K Clark?

That's absurd, of course! Lots of people are use Dick for Richard!

Sad news. I can't believe any of us can pass away at that age these days. Male LE is 78 and that increases as you get older, the more you live the more hurdles you've passed. If you don't make it to at least 85, you've probably been smoking, drinking, whoring, shooting up, sniffing, or eating your weight in Twinkies regularly?

Sort of by definition ;- )

(just kiddin' around wit' yo', buddy!)

... although, when it comes to health statistics, I still like to quote my postoc advisor (who was an MD/PhD or, as we would say, "a real doctor"):
Well, the probability of develolping a given cancer may be a fraction of a percent, but if you develop it... for you, the probability is 100% (1.00)!

You're right Mark. After all we are merely "mortal" which simply means: Not Dead Yet! And not much more. One wonderful brisk N.E. winter day. Beautiful blue skies, bright sunshine..."oh, it's garbage day!" I run to the garage, grab the waste and scramble down the driveway to get that garbage OUT of the house in time. BUT! I slip on black ice, crack my head and I'm gone! lol Human? Mortal? Born dying and a thousand other cliches well forth. Even Tolstoy penned the Death of Ivan Ilyich.

Damn writers! Comic/Tragic! Life/Death! Oh the Audacity, the Audacity! How dare they remind us of that! Then Ernest Becker goes and wins a Pulitzer for a discussion about how our entire society is The Denial of Death and dies of cancer, no less?

What was doro's address? Six feet under. lol

No stats necessary. Death likes everyone!

How many?? Actually quite a number of them..Louie Louie being just one...cut at the same time as the Kingsmen recorded their version and in the same studio in Portland....a more polished version too by the way that got way more air play than the Kingsmen cut...the reason the Kingsmen got more attention was due to the slurred lyrics that caused controversy at that time....

Hits or no hits they were a great 60's band. Give "Spirt Of 67" a spin. That is unless your not a fan of that era.

  • "Just Like Me" was one of their great tunes, but the 45 that got the most time on the table was "Hungry".

...... now that I think of it, "Let Me" ranked right up there, too.

Both of those were great tunes. May have to pick up a few PRR CD's. Bought the greatest hits collection of both the Four Seasons and the Dave Clark 5 recently, so I have that 60's rock thing going on.
