Tweeter Upgrades
Morning everyone,
I want to upgrade the tweeters on some of my speakers and am not sure which ones I need.
The stickers on the back of the speakers identify them as:
1 pair of 5JR.
1 Pair of T11.
1 Pair of RTA11 TL.
Thanks all...

There may be tweeter upgrades for these. There were different versions of some of your speakers as the designs evolved, the 5jr in particular where it could be Peerless, SL-1000, SL-2000 or SL-2500. Post some pics so we can see that original tweeters you have.
The RTA11TL should have had the SL-3000 as the original tweeter (metallic gold-ish looking). If so, the upgrade is the RDO-198. If it is the fish eye looking tweeter, it is the SL-2000 and the upgrade is the RD)-194
I am not familiar with the T11.

Actually picture #1 is the T11
Pic #2 is the 5JR
Pic #3 is correct.

They look to be SL2000's to me, which I believe means RDO-194 but I'd await the more educated folks for confirmation.VA HT HK AVR20II, Sony S9000ES CD/DVD/SACD, Polk Audio RC80i / Polk Audio CSi3, 60" Panasonic Plasma, Nordost / Signal Cable A2 / Wireworld / Pangea / Magic Power

The tweeters in your pics are all SL2000's. However, the RTA 11TL should have the SL3000, so you've had the wrong tweeter in them, which can't sound very good. You should replace the tweeters in the RTA 11TL with the RD0198-1.Political Correctness'.........defined

Ok, so I'm on the right path,
the RTA 11TL will get RDO-198's as an upgrade.
And the other 2 sets take the RDO-194's as upgrades. -
I agree that is the wrong tweeter for the 11TL. It does look to be an RTA11TL as it has the spoiler above the tweeter and squared cabinet edges. Where the tweeters swapped at some time?
It looks you are on the right track.Stan

Not to my knowledge nor have I changed any of them yet. As stated before, I'm just trying to confirm what I need to purchase. I never knew what the "little plastic" thing was that you call a "spoiler" or its purpose for that matter. As always Thanks a bunch for the info

According to the literature, the diffraction spoiler breaks up the symmetry between the upper and lower mid-woofers to reduce effects of diffraction. Which basically means it helps to prevent the mid-woofers from interfering with the tweeter dispersion for better imaging.
If your RTA11TL's came with those tweeters (SL-2000) vs the usual SL-3000, you need to look at the crossover component values. If they match what is in the schematic (sticky thread in Vintage section for the RTA11TL), you should be good to go with the RDO-198. If they match the RTA11T, then the RDO-194 is likely the better match.
I wonder what model mid-woofers and passive radiators your RTA11TL's have?Stan

This evening I am going to take out all the drivers one by one, make notes and take pictures as I know I'll need advise. Big THANKS for the info on the "diffraction spoiler".
