Dali Drivers

So after i effed up and fried the voice coils on my newly aquired mentor 2s, i sourced some ikon drivers to take their place. Very similar make up, but a smaller magnet. Lost some lowend slam, but the mids actually sound better. Would switching out a cap or two regain the lost bass?

Not so sure on that pal. Did the new drivers have the same specs ? I would imagine your loss of slam is due to the woofer excursion not being the same.
    HT SYSTEM-
    Sony 850c 4k
    Pioneer elite vhx 21
    Sony 4k BRP
    SVS SB-2000
    Polk Sig. 20's
    Polk FX500 surrounds

    Cables-
    Acoustic zen Satori speaker cables
    Acoustic zen Matrix 2 IC's
    Wireworld eclipse 7 ic's
    Audio metallurgy ga-o digital cable

    Kitchen

    Sonos zp90
    Grant Fidelity tube dac
    B&k 1420
    lsi 9's
  • Unless the new drivers have the same Thiele/Small parameters as the old drivers, the bass alignment will be messed up. Cabinet volume & tuning are specific to a driver.

Slightly different specs i am sure. Cant even tell with subs running. They were 1/3 the price of replacement Mentor drivers. I can live with em.

After some break-in, the drivers are rounding out. Id say 90 to 95 percent of original Mentor bass energy. Still gonna keep an out for a deal on Mentor 2 drivers, but i can live with theese for sure.
