IMHO this movie was a toatal insult on my inteligence and by that I mean I can't beleive I was dumb enough to sit through the entire thing. The best part of the entire movie was Scarlet Johansens butt in the very begining and even that was semi questionable. I hate to say it but I but I think Ms. Copala won the awards because of the God Father and even he had to make the Golden Globes an offer they couldn't refuse. If anyone deserved an award it was Bill Murray for best actor because he remotely made it semi-kinda, half way funny in some kind a bizzare screwed up demented way. I kept waiting for the hilarious part that the back of the box promised but it never happend. I found this movie extremely pointless. One could only hope that the Academy Awards do not fallow suit. This movie was so bad I would prefer to chew on tinfoil in the middle of a root canal than watch it again. Please don't waist your $4.25 on the rental. Wait for the debut on network. Record it and then watch it when you want to fall asleep and can't.

pm,
agreed! it is a lousy movie, rottentomatoes.com give it a 90+ rating (for what?) I was suckered into buying it, thinking Bill Murray in it (owned Groundhog Day and What About Bob).
I went to see 50 First Dates last night, against the rating recommendation of rottentomatoes.com, and it is hilarious, entertaining, and fun to watch. Oh well, from now on, I must take the exact opposite attitude against rottentomatoes.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie. -
Doesn't it piss you off after you hear how "good" a movie is by other "sources" and awards it may have received, watch it for yourself, and just about want to throw up? I remember I did this with the award winning "The English Patient" - I had to shut that one down after 30 minutes. My rule for gauging a movie...
Never completely trust anyone or anything, as YOU are the ONLY one who can determine how much YOU like a movie.
One of my friends and I go to a LOT of movies - on some we totally agree on how much we like or dislike the flick, and on others we have exact opposite opinions on their entertainment and replay value. Case closed.Mains: polkaudio RTi70's (bi-wired)

Lost wasn't a "bad" movie.. it just wasn't as good as it was built up to be. I rented it only after it won the awards. Man it was so mediocre at best. Bill Murray isn't even that funny in the movie.
I was disappointed in the movie that's for sure.
What was it about the movie that got it so much attention?PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

It was an okay movie but Sophia Coppola was very influenced from a Hong Kong movie called "In the Mood for Love" which in my opinion was far superior.
Similar plot, similar techniques on telling the story, even down to the "whisper". She admits even its director are one of her favourites.Polk Rt800i -Fronts

I think it was a great movie. What is it like to go though a mid life crisis. You have not had the ocasion to stop and think about what you want to do for the rest of your life. If you had, you would applaud what the film was able to show and do. It is called a slice of life. Perhaps the movie was to real for you. I liked Tokyo having traveled to asia, I thought that the customs and the language issue was great. That said, I do not think it is one of those movies I would want to watch over and over agian, except the Japanese stipper segment.
Oh well. It was not for everyone. And, it is not a comedy.

I hate how the Oscar's only recognizes funny actors when they are serious. Like Tom Hanks and Robin Williams. I personally think Hanks should have won an Oscar for "Big."Home Speakers polkaudio RTi70's (bi-wired), CSi30, FX3000i, PSW250

For me it was a drama with no impact, a comedy with no laughter.More later,

I thought this movie was totally bland. A minimalist movie of contrast is one way I have heard it discribed. Artsy Fartsy is what I say. Most of the critics loved it and its obvious so does "Hollywood" from the awards it has been up for. I guess I just don't "get it".

I'm with you Montana, This was a stinker.... I was especially disappointed because it was a Bill Murry movie....I liked some of the visuals of Japan...but the movie would have served better being a Japaneese version of Baraka, and although it was about a midlife crisis..the script fell short of making feel this guy was really feeling the pain..or was it Murry??? It is almost Coppla wasn't sure if she wanted to make this a mid life crisis movie or a love story and fell short on both counts.

It was the director and her dady that got the ettention. I am still trying to figure out why this movie pissed me off. I guess it was because a spoiled bratt got a break and now the awards are kissing her ****. I guess I wouldn't be upset if it hadn't won anything. Just goes to show that the awards shows should be taken w/ a grain of salt. I hate when stuffy boardroom people try to tell the American public what they should and shouldn't like.]What was it about the movie that got it so much attention"It doesn't get any more serious than a Rhinocerus about to charge your ****."

Well "Godfather III" proved Sofia was no actress, so she had to find other work. I mean her Dad's wine isn't that great...More later,
