Inexpensive Tower Cabinet

I have a problem. I have an inexpensive tower cabinet with glass shelves. My issue is with my TT. I can't put a record on and walk way from the cabinet without the record skipping. So I'm thinking that the cabinet doesn't have enough mass because the shelf is pretty snug. I have old hardwood floors which I know are transferring a lot of vibrations to the table so my question is two-fold.

1.) I've tried Isolation feet, carpet and another component underneath the TT, what else should I try?

2.) what tower shelf would you recommend for less that $200 to replace this one?

Thanks

I'm in an apartment that I'd really rather not attach anything to the walls.

Xavier, if isolating feet didn't help I would think only a wall shelf like what P-man said would help. I remember my grandparents wood floors - where kids just walking fast across the floor would make you have to grab things before they fell off the tables and such. maybe a heavy wooden cabinet? I understand in your place wall unit is not a option.

Denrob1 I'm past the recommended force already. DSkip, I put the feet directly under the turntable. I'll look up the sub mat.

Sooooo, I was looking at the force on the stylus and with the help of the manual, realized I did NOT have enough force on the stylus. Denrob1, you hit the nail on the head. Thank you kind sir.

Xavier, I have a pro-ject Force gauge, if you would like, I would ship it to you and all it would cost you is the $$ to ship it back. it seems a waste that you only use them once in a blue moon and then they collect dust,
Also if other are interested it can be passed around and then shipped back to me! just let me know.

What about placing the TT on a lower shelf? There would be a lower center of mass and should be less movement there.

Voltz, I don't think I need it. i let the guy at the store set it up for me and I brought it home and put it in one location for a few days. The arm was still balanced and the downforce was still ok. When I moved it to the rack, I know I bumped the arm and thought I reset it but I didnt. Yesterday, I started over and did it right. I've played about 5 albums and it's been great.
