Very well said, if I say so myself. I was thinking of a "Oh, What the **** ?!" button myself but your suggestion is much more .... uhm ..... socially acceptable.
BTW, while I'm thinking of it: in my previous post, I 'recommended' to mhardy that he add a Sansui RA-500 spring reverb to his "garage rig". Now, in my opinion, it should be obvious to the most casual of observers that that 'recommendation' was done tongue in cheek and is actually an acknowledgement of the quality of his "stuff". I thought I should mention that.
So, in the meantime, I wish Polk well on their journey and hope they encounter success. Straight up. Their house, their rules, their way. Hope it works out for them.
......maybe a "Oh, What the **** ?!" button wouldn't be such a bad idea, though.
Agreed on your sentiments regarding Polk. I disagree with the direction they are going, but I hope it works for them as I loved their past output and am hoping they will still put out great gear in the future.
That said, if Polk cannot see that tubes, SDA's and turntables haven't disappeared after all this time and the value in them to enough people to continue manufacturing them and/or replacement parts for them, then they need to re-evaluate and broaden they scope of their "marketing field". While I will agree that micro-gadgets are popular and will sell; there are many many people who will actually care about music and sound reproduction and will always want the inconvenient, pricey, and excellent sounding gear. That, historically has been a proven fact, and will continue to be so.
Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion."
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....
