how to PM? is this the MESSAGE feature when you click a username?

I'm trying to figure out how to send a PM from a user's profile.
if I click Message, is that public or a PM?

I disabled signatures.

I go to my inbox and click create message. You can type in who you want it to go to. Cant figure out how to clear inbox though

yeah, that's what I had to do the last time. I thought there'd be a clicky way to do it from a user's profile. no biggie if this is the way it works now.I disabled signatures.
