Powercord

I am looking for a powercord for my amp(s). Right now I am looking for a single powercord for my B&K amp, later on I will be looking for one for my Dayton sub amp.

I realize this is a long shot but for my B&K I need a 1m cable and would prefer either a PS Audio AC-5, or a Pangea AC-9SE. I may be able to get away with a .6m as they are VERY close, however I know based on the gauge of these cables, they are not super flexible so I need the extra length to allow for a looser bend.

My budget is 40 shipped (hence long shot) and I CANNOT go over that.

I've been watching eBay and will continue to do so, but figured I'd see if anyone had one of these two cords laying around they wouldn't mind parting with.

Highly doubt you'll find either of those cords for 40 bucks ....shipped no less. Save your cereal box tops or maybe settle for something less. Signal's Magic power cords are decent and can be found used for 40 bucks easily.

59 smackers is a good price sometimes they have free shipping so for 19 clams more your getting a decent PC. Frank is a good person to deal with I own a lot of Signal Cable stuff.

Maybe just get the AC-9 for $59.99 from Audio Advisor...that is I of you really can get the 0.6m to work. You would be really lucky to find the SE version for cheaper than $80 bucks.

Yeah I figured it's not gonna happen with those two cords.

I've had some interesting offers on a couple different others so who knows.

I'm gonna be a bit picky because this cord (and then the sub one) are for very high current items, so I want to make sure the gauge is big enough to handle the draw, and also that they have good build quality.

The couple PM's I've got are those, just not the cables I wanted.

I dont mind being patient on this and waiting, dont need it RIGHT away, but something I want to get taken care of at some point.

IF you are going to be so picky about which cable to use because of the current, then stop being so CHEAP. You know I'm just jerking your chain man, I know you are a blood hound on the scent of a great deal so one will pop up eventually.

After you get the kid and wife to bed, just sneak out and do some work on the side like in a male review or something and keep those funds for your toys. The ladies won't be able to resist such a fine specimen and you'll be able to flip gear like good ole PFB......

7 AWG for both the AC-9 and the AC-9SE. With the SE you get better copper and more shielding for twice the price for the .65 length.

Yup, and given its for the amp driving my main 5 speakers, that difference may be big, may not be, but I'd rather go big or go home.

From what I've been reading the sonic differences for the SE are a deeper more controlled bass, which would be nice from my LSi's...

But we will see what happens.

IMO, with either one you will be ahead of the game. No one else really offers a cable with that size wire for the price. To be honest....it would be a pain to have to deal with a cable any thicker than the AC-9.

I plan to go all Pangea myself...and would like to try the SE versions but will settle for used regular versions. I need 3 for the amps in the mains and center. One for the AVR, one for the TV, one for the DVD, and one for the Power Conditioner. Whew, not cheap!

Here are some used AC-9SE on craigslist but they are only about $20-$30 cheaper than Audio Adviser. http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/ele/4655141853.html

Then use your patience by putting $25 a week into a cable fund until you can buy a good cable.

That may happen, just seeing if someone out there has one they really just want to dump and give a good price break to a fellow Polkie

Yeah, I hear you Derek. The 14SE all around would be sweet....anything to get rid if the flimsy OEM cables.

I would just go with the AC-14SE and forget about the AC-14. The 14 is a good cable, but the SE is a MUCH better cable for a very small price. You can still get a used SE in that price range if you wait for it. The price difference between the 9 and 9SE are quite substantial, and like I said in another thread, I've yet to hear a difference on my amps, even with cables I knew made a difference on other pieces. I still use the $3.00 PC's on both of my monoblocks because I get bigger gains spending that money elsewhere.

What about the 14 XL? Looks like a very similar manufacture process to PS Audio's cables...

Curious as I would be using that cable (not the one I am looking for) for my pre-amp. For my sources I'd just use the SE because the only source that isnt on a wallwart is the Xbox 360 and I dont listen to music through it.
