Has anyone heard anything about Polk updating it's subwoofer line? It's present line seems dated and I'm in need of a new sub. I need to ugrade to something above the dsw pro 600. Looking at a svs sb 13 ultra.

  • Good question. I don't see them listed on polks homepage anymore. Looks like I will be ordering the SVS SB 13 Ultra. I hope they match the lsim 703's very well.

Interesting because the picture above the SUBS is a MicroPro? lol

I suspect Polk had trouble "moving" enough MicroPros at their MSRP. They were certainly very good, Polk's BEST. But, let's face it; they were largely "overpriced" compared to what you could get from the competition. Once you start pricing subs above $1000 you have a LOT TO COMPETE WITH! Too much IMO!

Or maybe they're on the verge of a "new series" we know nothing about? They do need something to match the LSiM series!

  • Glad I picked up a micropro 4000 from polk's ebay store in late 2011.

SVS for the Win!!! I can honestly say I will never own another Polk sub...
  • The sb13's arrived Thursday and are they heavy. I had a heck of a time geting them into the house. 100 lbs. FedEx left them at the back door in the rain. Idiots. If I get my yard work done early I will connect them today, Hopefully.

    Congrats on the sub!

so many people here have won me over on SVS subs that they will be my next one, I have a Polk PSW125, but thinking its time to switch out my sub.

  • I finally connected the sb 13's. They are a huge improvement over the 600's. I have not have a chance yet to get into the menu. I swapped the powercord for a audioquest nrg-x3. The rca connect is a audioquest black thunder from audio advisor. The svs is hooked to my Yamaha rx-a2010 receiver. The lsim 703's are powered by a parasound model 2250 also preout thru the Yamaha. This sub was made for the 703's. Hopefully this weekend I can fine tune it. I am not disappointed at all.

The PSW 1000 has served me well in my LSi15s, FXs, LSi7s and LSiC speaker setup. Wouldn't consider changing them unless an upgrade to the LSiM required it. Anyone experienced an LSiM upgrade and saw the need to replace this SUB?

The sb 13 is a huge improvement over the dsw pro 600 I was using with the lsim 703's. There is really no comparison between the two. The psw 1000 I am not familiar with at all

I would hope so. Your comparing a $350-400 sub to a $1600 sub.

Actually The PSW1000 had an MSRP of $1200 back in the day. Pretty comparable to $1600 in today's $$.

  • If there's one "constant" in my home theater setup, it's been my Polk DSWmicroPro1000 subwoofer that I picked up from Showcase for $399 when they were going out of business back in 2008-ish, I believe. I've never seen it for a lesser price. In fact, it seems to have gone up in price since then, if anything. I just hope it lasts the rest of my days, because I doubt I'll ever be able to find that kind of a value again.
