Wifes new Car

Well I owed it to her after spending a bunch of money on new gear, the new Sony 4k TV, The Oppo105D, and new HT furniture, 3 channel amp, and a bunch of other stuff she was good about it all. I got her a new 2015 Kia Soul fully loaded, she picked this over The new Nissan Rouge. This Kia has it all but the kitchen sink panoramic roof/ sunroof the 7 speaker with subwoofer infinity stereo kicks A$$ and its beautiful inside just came off the trailer last night just picked it up tonight we put 41 miles on it.

Heck we both own new Kia's now and we no longer have a Nissan in the mix. I cant wait for the leafs to change color and we park it off on a side road view the stars through the panoramic roof throw in some Barry White and well you all get the idea. I was just surprised she chose this over the Rouge, but hey shes happy and I even like it, she called me her angel

Well.just woke up she's gone the wife I did not hear her leave look in the garage cars gone, time to crank some tunes, this Kia just might lead to more time for me and the 2 channel. I hope she is out looking for a good inconspicuous side road to gaze at some stars tonight, I better rest up, she never gets up early on a Saturday.

"Now that's a new way to roll" LOL! Very surprised she picked it over the Rogue. The new one is awesome...I want to get it for my wife. However, that Kia is for those that want to be a little different. Enjoy it!

Yeah me two she owned 2 different Rouges I thought for sure she would of went home with a third but this Soul has more room inside than the new Rouge did I'm 6'4 and have more leg room than in the new Rouge, another reason I think she chose it is we got my daughter a Soul last year and two of her friends have them, she trumped them by getting the fully loaded one and a 2015 model to boot. I'm happy for her.

More leg room in the Soul? Whaat? No way! I though the Rouge felt larger than the previous years and the current Select. The Soul felt small when I sat in it years ago. The wife and I were looking hard at the Sportage back then. We test drove it and the Soul. In the end she really liked the Optima but we decided not to purchase at that time.

Lets look at the numbers:

The numbers don't show it but there is something about the way your frame fits in the Soul that makes it feel larger. It happens....Myself, I tend to like upright vehicles....bigger feel. I really like the new Impala for myself...and would like to get the Hyundai Santa Fe for the wife. We both really like the new Lincoln MKC...but that is getting waaay beside ourselves. We will be lucky to get a single used vehicle, LOL! Gotta get her back to work. Good jobs are hard to find in NW Indiana over the last two years. We're MI-Motor City natives.

the 2014Rouge has less leg room than the 2010 or the 2012 Rouge we owned those models were huge I sat in the 2014 rouge and had the seat back all the way and still felt cramped, the Soul seat back all the way I had to move it forward a bit, believe you me I like nissans we have owned Maximas, Pathfinders, Sentras, and Rouges so I have always been faithful to Nissans. The Wife was all giddy when she hopped in the Soul it was her choice she loves it

I think that car is absolutely ugly, and you know what...that's a great thing!!!

A lot of cars today have no real character, they're not particularly great looking and they're not overly offensive, they're just kinda bland. They're 'safe', but they have no real soul or character to them and feel like they're designed to offend as few people as possible but don't really wow anybody either. I find those to be the most offensive vehicles on the road, and yet they represent a large percentage of what's out there. A lot of them are great cars, but I hate all of them nonetheless.

I love cars like the Kia Soul and Nissan Juke and even stuff like the Toyota FJ Cruiser, cars that feel like they were designed by a human being using an imagination. I put our Infiniti FX in that category as well, especially the model we have, and that was one of the main reasons we ended up picking it. The design is somewhat polarizing and I'm just as happy when someone tells me they either love or hate the look of our car.

Obviously the truly great cars are those that have a very distinctive design AND most people love, I think that modern cars like the Tesla and Alpha 4C may ultimately find their way into that group of all-time classics.

I don't want the boring car, to call a car boring is the worst offense IMO. Sure, a distinct design will scare some off, but that's worth the trade off to get a car that people actually have a visceral or at least a mild emotional reaction to.

I love cars though, so I can see how, from a logical and functional perspective, every car out there should be just fine looking like a Toyota Camry.

So, while I personally think the Kia Soul is downright hideous, I absolutely love the car for being that way and commend you for purchasing it.

Yeah your absolutely right most of today's mid size SUV's all look the same, and as she's out cruising in it right now she's probably turning some heads as it's a red one and not the Alien green one like we got my daughter has and every other soul driver, another oddity about the 2015 model is the big fabric wind blocker looks like a fish net that flaps up once you open up the sun roof it is suppose to eliminate noise from entering the cabin i will have to take a picture of it if she ever returns from her road trip.

Yeah, I agree with all that you guys are saying. The Soul is just that...it has SOUL! Its for the driver that wants to stand out in the crowd of similar looking CUV's. IMO, Kia and Hyundai is just knocking it out the park with their style team. I like the style of many of their vehicles over some vehicles from BMW for example. Hell! The Accord looks better than the 3 series to me....never thought i would ever say that. Also, the Hyundai Santa Fe IMO is right up there in exterior style with some of the more pricey CUV's.

She made it back she put another 57 miles on it here is a picture of that fabric cover that flaps up once the sun roof is open.

Kind of cool my only concern is how do you get the bugs off of it after a ride in the country since the sun roof has to be open the booklet says its treated with something and will rub off with a damp cloth with a little pressure, will see.


Here is the cockpit looks nice the infinity stereo system sounds great subwoofer with 7 speakers, 5 in the front 2 in the back it gets loud lots of good clean bass and sounds awesome plus yes the front speakers either light up to the music or they light up in the mood mode or you can turn them off if you don't want the light show.

So here is her Soul and my Sportage in the Kia holding area. It was her Idea to get her Soul no matter how hard I tried to talk her into the new Rouge she said she wanted something different shes happy, so am I it takes up less space so maybe I can have more room for another Mountain Bike

Honestly I think I will take it out for a cruise tonight with her, there is this little VFW hall out in the sticks they have awesome burger baskets for $3.50 and pitchers of domestic beer for $4.75 have a bite put a couple back its a nice drive and who knows maybe a little back road detour, I will have Barry White playing for the ride back

I think this above video is what is going on inside her head, she is still all giddy she has never acted this way with any other car she has had shes already out cruising and I am cranking the tunes waiting for a football game to watch. I hope these early morning 2 channel sessions never end and her fondness for early morning cruises never ends. Yep Shes in love with her car!

Myself, I have to get my wife something soon. Her car is old and has some issues. Just today we found out the new Lincoln MKC comes in a tahitian pearl color.

Purple is her favorite color. She says, "thats it, that the car I want!" Not a chance a $35K-$40K compact lux CUV will happen. But, I need to figure out something cheaper before the snow drops. Her car is running a bit rough....gonna have to put the "S" on the chest and save the day at some point.
