Finally...

I've been going through some serious changes in my system. Partly driven by wanting to try something different. Partly driven by trying to fit my system into a built-in cabinet. Partly driven by selling gear to upgrade speakers. Partly driven by the WAF........you get the idea.

So just after I get the 705's from Trey, I disassemble my rig to sell some gear and rearrange. Around the same time, I hit my busy peak at work. I had the chance to listen for probably about 5 hours on the new speakers and that's it. Not cool, but hey, I did it to myself. I'm now going on two weeks without my system.

I will say this; I'm 32, and I've known for about 14 years that music is a big part of my life. Even at a younger age I was just drawn to music like crazy. I remember being 12 or 13 and when going to sleep, turning my clock radio on to the local top 40 station super quiet....just loud enough for me to hear it, but in no way that my parents could ever bust me.

At 18, I was turning my friends on to new music that I was discovering. At around 23, I realized that music hit me different than it did a lot of people. Every since then, I knew I was an audio nerd, audio weirdo, audiophile......audio whatever. I got married at 27 and my wife said we had to get rid of my college mtx (which I miss for sentimental reasons). That's when the wife and I bought our first pair of polks....the monitor 70's (which I still own).

Man, you don't know how freaking cool I felt when I unboxed those glorious Goliaths. Compared to anything I had seen or heard, those things were monsters....and the sound....magnificent.

I have since upgraded and shuffled various gear including speakers, and I have LOVED every single minute of my short audio journey.

Bringing this all back....after 13 straight days of work and not a day off soon in sight, plus going on over two weeks without my system....I was really feeling the need. I just haven't felt right without my system. Maybe it's an addiction...or a weird dependency...I'm not really sure.

But tonight I just said screw it. After getting home late from work and hugging the kids, knowing tomorrow is coming early...then making dinner and finally a cocktail. I got together my gear and re-assembled my for-now system. I just need some .damn music!

I threw on an album as the tubes were warming up and even with the kids running around and the wife stressing out....something just felt right. Norah Jones was just speaking to me.

Then............Crazy kids bed time, brush teeth getting ready for tomorrow, crazy kids crying all three of them house a mess pick it up quick, read books...put everything away...loud crazy stresss, bed time.....tell them a story and they fall asleep.

Whew!

Tubes warm.

The Pines...Dark So Gold

Peace...relax...tranquility...wow...

Is this a for now system or a for good system?

Of course there are components that could be better, but wow......

This feels good...

Yes, I finally got myself together enough in my crazy day-to-day life to center myself in the music, and even fill out my signature....

And yes....This feels good...

    Big question....What's the cocktail?

We drink brandy old fashioned's up here in the midwest.

    Pinch sugar
    3 shakes bitters
    2 marisheno cherries
    1 orange wedge
    splash sprite
    muddle/smash the ingredients
    ice
    brandy
    top with more sprite
    stir

Sounds like a lot, but it's pretty easy when your used to it

LOL...basically it's a brandy and 7 with some fancy stuff to set it apart.

If you get the brandy and 7, you've got the speakers and the amp.....

The other stuff is the source material and the cables :open_mouth:

I always love a touching story that is "well told"! You, my friend, have good taste!

Enjoy, and also relax a little more. At 32 you're still young enough to have decades of listening ahead of you!

Of course, that's assuming the amps are warm and the tunes are good!
