Pull it out of the headshell; the model should be embossed or printed on the top side of the cartridge (where, of course, you cannot see it).
It's a pretty good one... I have one that looks just like it (and I honestly cannot remember the model -- I am just not much of an A-T fan, so it's not the kind of information I retain :- P). -
Thanks Mark. I can take it out BUT i dont have knowledge how to get it aligned up again OR the special tool to do that with.. I did remove it off the arm BUT still couldnt see letters / numbers. I looked online & sure enough numbers are on Top...

I love my Technics TT's. They work well and don't break the bank. I'll get something nicer later but until then these do just fine. Side note. What is that you have your "system" sitting on?

I'm looking for something for my son's stuff and the more I look the more I think I need to give him mine and buy me a VTI. That however looks like it would do what I want it to do effectively and not break the bank.HT/2Channel: Emotiva MMC-1, Adcom GFA-555II, Polk SDA 3.1's, Teac TN-300 TT, Polk Center and Sub.

Nice table. I'm running a 1600 from that same series of Technics. Fairly robust table and more impervious to footfalls and children dancing than some of my other tables.
Sorry I can't help you with an id on the cart. I've used both a Shure M97xe and Ortofon 2M Red on mine with good success. The Red has crisper highs and the Shure tends to have a little more body and slam to the lower midbass region. Enjoy.
PS- Have you had time to play any of the R2R tapes I sent you?

LOL! That is exactly what I need! What kind of rack? It looks like some sort of table or end table.

From the pic, is the cart a gold color or yellow?
BTW the 565 is a solid pre with a solid phono pre. Nice setup.Klipsch The Nines, Audioquest Thunderbird Interconnect, Innuos Zen MK3 W4S recovery, Revolution Audio Labs USB & Ethernet, Border Patrol SE-I, Audioquest Niagara 5000 & Thunder, Cullen Crossover II PC's. -
The cartridge is gold. Like i stated above-id remove it but dont have the tool to align it.. The Adcom 565pre is spectacular & does quite well on phono or everything i have ever put on her. The Adcom as a whole does very well on SDA's not so well on the RTA15's i just got. I listened to it set up for a week & a no go..

[/quote]. It was a TV stand that i got free. It had a tv on it. Its wood. Light but very rugged. It had a 63lbs AVR & 40lbs amp on just bottom & another 30-40lbs on top shelf when i was running HT set up. I know its not much-but i love it. Look at antique places & furniture/yardsale Craigslist or local paper. Cheap deals out there

Nice table. Have no idea about the AT cart. Just got a call from Pete today on the DUAL TT I have in his shop. Looks like a go for repair. I believe it has the standard SHURE cartridge on it. OK, but not TOTL. I find myself partial to "old" school SHURES, nothing too upscale.
You seem to be selling off a lot of you stuff on CL, Randy! What's up?
What are you thinking of "upgrading". As far as I'm concerned you have some very nice set ups. Your SDA 2Bs are the more aesthetic ones than mine. Your 1Cs look mint. The Yamahas and Adcoms are doing a nice job. The YaQin tube buffer sounds pretty good. The only thing I can think about is getting a tube amp on those SDAs. Other than that, going with BIgger SDAs won't get you much, you, like I, don't have the SPACE for those to really show you what they can do?
As for me, I've been working on setting up a cheap studio for my daughter in my son's former bedroom. Picked up a cheap Insignia receiver (that is really a Sherwood 4109 rebadge for $4.99). Put two VIFA tweeters in a set of JBL 2500s. Also bought a set of Yamaha NS 25Ts as another pair of monitor-like speakers for that room from Joe for close to nothing. We're using a Blue Yeti USB mic. and she has recording software on her MAC. Next, have to buy some diffusion and foam sound traps, etc. Work in progress. Then a synth/keyboard with computer interface, and so on!

Randy... mind you I am not encouraging you to do this, but... you don't need a physical alignment jig to install (or, re-install) a cartridge properly on a Technics S-shaped arm. What you would need is an alignment protractor or a jig. You can buy such things, or you can download decently accurate jigs as PDF files from www.vinylengine.com
You do need to know the proper overhang, too... but that's easy (52 mm -- see Figs. 2 and 3 on page 3 of the manual, which you can snag at vinylengine.com/library/technics/sl-1300.shtml)
That said, the headshell on the 1300 is kind of funky; with the single screw overhang adjustment. Apparently not all alignment "standards" can be achieved with this headshell... but any standard-issue headshell will (should!) work on the arm.
Just sayin'...

Can't be sure but it looks like an AT 15SS OR 20SS. Same cartridge body will support both styli.

I bought a SL1360 from someone in Boxborough several months ago. The cart looks similar to mine (AT15Sa). Although as others have said it could also be the 20.

It is a nice cart with a Shibata stylus. I didn't know the amount of usage so I decided to get an AT120ET.
It a nice start on the vinyl journey, but I have much further to go. Enjoy.
