Upgrade for Monitor 4s?

I have a nice pair of Monitor 4s but I'm not really pleased with the sound of them. I use them in my bedroom mostly for listening to public radio with a Yamaha CR400 receiver and a Sony tuner.
Are there tweeters I can put in that aren't real expensive that would improve the sound? Mine have the triangle shaped covers over them.

  • Can you give me some ideas on better speakers for my bedroom? I'd like a bookshelf speakers, not too big with no more than a 6.5" woofer. I think I prefer non ported.
I was thinking of some Boston A40s or Infinity Sterling 2001s, which are both non ported. I was also looking at Fluance SX-6 and SV-10S, Micca, Pioneer, and a few others.

If you want to stick with Polks. Go with Monitor 5's with Peerless tweeters OR S6's would do well & you can thank me later. The Monitor's (any 5jr jr+ 5's or 7's) match Yamaha's quite well & can be had reasonable for a nice set. Ive got a CR-620 with S6's & love them. Good luck with your search
EDIT. As far as upgrading tweeter. Spend the coin & get a better speaker VS cost of tweets on that model-if its a series2 . That would be my opinion

You can try Part-express vifa tweeters.

I had KEF Chorale III and it was very nice for the size.
Also, JBL 2500/2600 are good options.

If you do get small Polks with peerless, make sure to get a sub as well as they just bite without a sub.
