KLH 9

After a 35year hiatus in the garage, I brought these speakers into the living room and they sounded like when I bought them in the early 60's, meaning very, very sweet and accurate.
I also found a way to play them as loud as I want by passing the lows to a big Martin-Logan sub woofer. It seems it is the low frequencies that short them out at high volume.
Am I the only one in the word using these speakers and loving them?

Hello,
Welcome to Polk's forum. The KLH9 are some true classic speakers, that's for sure. A few years ago I bought a pair from the road manager for David Bromberg and loved them. I had had Magneplanar Tympani speakers and was already familiar with large box-less speakers, but the KLH were special. I think, at the time, I was using the Audio Research SP3a and D75a combination.
I sold them and took a trip to Ireland for a couple of weeks. Great speakers, take a few photos for us?
Regards, Ken -
Amazing loudspeakers; they're not as uncommon as one might expect, given their age, fragility, and original cost!
I'll never be able to swing a pair, so I have to make due with my ESL-57s...

The Quads are also sweet and disappear into the music.
