Older receiver value?

This is not a for sale thread nor an attempt to bypass the rules. The situation is that I have a Pioneer Elite VSX-92TXH receiver. Fantastic unit that does all the HD audio formats but not one of the SC series. 7 years old. I upgraded to a SC-67 and am trying to decide whether to sell or keep. the primary thing that I don't know is value given the fact that one of the internal surround channel amps isn't working properly. I kind of figure that if I don't get more than $100 for it that I'll just use it to power some outdoor speakers but I don't know if it's worth more? With the pre-outs and a power amp, the problem is a non-issue and it's a great processor. Open to thoughts.

  • I've got a similar problem. My Integra is getting replaced next year but I don't think I can get enough for it to justify selling it.....

I may try but not too hard.

Heck I may just keep it as a backup in case whatever I get breaks lol.....

You could always try posting it or putting a feeler out on your local CL. You might be surprised at the response you'll get. I inherited an older (but solid) Integra AVR that a local seller would not separate from some speakers I bought from him. Many folks here said I probably wouldn't get much more than $50. So, I was going to keep it as a backup for our garage rig. Ended up putting an ad on CL for $150, just for the he11 of it. Had a local person offer me $100. I felt a little bad, so I gave him some old Realistic speakers (yeah...) and a bunch of 16 AWG wire. He was thrilled, and ended up with a decent starter rig. And I came out $50 ahead. Bottom line is he could not have gotten anywhere near the quality buying new for the same price.

Try listing it, and just be honest about it. If it doesn't sell, decision made!
