2ch. pre-amp suggestions

Well I sold my Onkyo 717 AVR today. It performed perfectly and sounded really nice paired with my ATI amp and RTI12's, but I am not interested in surround sound at this point. Looking for a 2ch Pre-amp with a decent phono input. Probably will by used, budget $600 ish. However I have been considering the Adcom Gfp815, which can be purchased new for $500. What are your thoughts?

    Just sold a Parasound 2100 for $430... Never tried the phono stage tho... But it did perform well and was very well made

    Parasound p/ld series have a nice phono stage if you want a remote. If not adcom gfp 565 has an excellent phono stage, but no remote

    The Op's budget is 6 bones, if you'll let that Anthem go for 6 bones, I'll buy it. lol

    SS...Look for some older Parasound pre's, good bang for the buck. Also, some older SS processors make great 2 channel pre's from the likes of Proceed, Anthem, B&k, Cary....all in your price range and all include digital inputs and a good dac to boot. Like getting 2 products for the price of one.

    I saw his budget, but assuming he could get some $ for his amp, it should be well within his budget.

    But regardless, yes he wasn't asking for input on an integrated, or a sales pitch so my apologies.

    I owned a parasound halo p3 with a phono. I preferred my ps audio phono, but that cost more than the pre itself. IMO, you should be able to get at used p3 for under 5 hondos, and you would not be dissapointed by the performance or looks.

    I've only dealt w/ an Onkyo P-301 and Onkyo P3150v which were basically the same machine. They worked but when compared against what I have now they are just kinda nominal in function. The NAD 1020a that was gifted to me by Pumpkinman (here) is so much more musical, controls are way more sensitive and really do change tone/bass whatever and the volume is so responsive I rarely go past the 8 o'clock position. The only drawback and I'm not complaing is that the NAD does not have a remote. Both Onkyos did and it was great to watch the motorized volume control do it's thing but I'll take better sound over convienence and I'm a lazy guy.

    up to the OP.... I have this NAD 116, And I wish I could comment on the phono, but I have never used it. However, it carries a fine rep, and this preamp can be had for a bit less than $600. So, I like my 116, and thought I would link to the Ebay unit for sale just in case. Mine is slightly warm, and I like the presentation.

    I like it a lot, but by the time I add a phono pre it would be way over my budget. Hmmm...it is very beautiful too.

    Just my opinion, I bought a sonic frontiers sfl1 that has one little tube, and i play my vinyl using a jolida jd0 tha has one or two tubes, i forget, but i will never go back.

    I had a nice setup with an adcom 750 pre and an adcom amp, and cd player,nice setup, but harsh on these old ears,after matching these components, especially with some sda 1cs, no choice.

    Some tubes in the system as long as I have a say in the matter/

    If you buy the parasound I have a pro-ject phonobox to use for a tt.

    Well, after some more thought I figured that the features offered by an avr (in my budget) best suit my needs at this point. I really wanted a dedicated 2ch. pre but decided that I wanted to keep a zone 2 on my back patio and I really enjoy streaming flac files via dlna from my pc. I probably should have just kept the Onkyo, but in the end I purchased a refurbished Yamaha RX-A1010 to serve as my preamp. I will likely add a 2ch. pre with a ht. pass through at some point this year, perhaps the parasound 2100. I received the Yamaha yesterday, but haven't got it all figured out yet. After going through one Sunday of NFL football on my tv's speakers I got desperate.
