Netflix not being quite honest

Do a Google search, and you can find info where people have realized the Blue Rays they get from Netflix only has DVD audio. I think it has been discussed on this site. They get their BRs from the studios, and the studios do not want people copying their disks.

Anyway, I just went to Netflix, and saw this.

I concur. The vast majority of RECENT NF BDs have DTSMA. I noticed degraded audio versions several months ago, but it seems that NF is responding to the critics.

There are a handful of discs without HD audio, but the vast majority I've received have it so I'm fine with their graphic.

Imagine that: a corporation "being" "dishonest"? What is the market coming to? Oh, yeah, "monopoly"! That's what EVERY BIG BOY wants to be! Invisible hand, nah. Giant fist that smashes competition then RAISES its prices and REDUCES its services. It's what we're all about! lol

    CNH,

I've worked for large corporate and private firms. Out of both, large corporate has cared FAR more about what customer perception and feedback is than any of the small private firms I have worked for.

You have to realize, part of crushing your competition is making sure nobody leaves upset and if they do, make it right. No matter how outrageous the complaint, how crazy someone is, no matter how much they abuse staff. They WILL get whatever they want to make sure that they feel like they "won".

Large corporate firms write off more that one private firm could ever hope to earn just to make they stay in a good light with customers.

To me this is a HUGE problem with the any industry. People feel like they can waltz into any store, treat people like garbage and complain that someone was "rude" to them so that they get whatever they want. If a store level manager does not give it to them, they call a corporate line and they will hand it out and the store manager is treated like an **** even though they did the right thing.

I guess my rant boils down to, corporate America could use more of a shove it attitude to customers and private firms need to care more about what people perceive.

With that said, I seem to find that corporations run by Asian firms seem to have a MUCH higher rate of shove it attitude than American run firms. LG, Samsung, DENON...

    Cultural difference?

This is "exactly" why I provided those empty lines.

My apologies to BlueFox (not really relevant to his thread)! A tangent, at best.

You CNH...going off on a tangent ? Color me surprised. lol

Love to comment on that though if Fox doesn't mind. Regarding your tangent, I think a lot off what you have to say is PC related. We as a society are afraid now, afraid to offend anyone for anything. Thus we get a watered down version, an everybody is the same mentality. We cater to the few over the many....which destroys why the many patronized certain businesses' in the first place. With the promotion of Facebook and Twitter, bad publicity no longer stays local. Small business relies on local patronage, could care less if someone a thousand miles away see's bad publicity. Big corporations on the other hand are patronized in a bigger geographical scale, thus the events that unfold on social media impact them more.

You can always tell where competition rests, by the customer service you receive. Polk has great customer service...because if they don't a million other companies are standing in line to suck up those dollars spent. Cable companies on the other hand have crappy CS...because where else ya gonna go ?

  • I have noticed that sometimes HD audio is left off of the "rental" blurays, regardless of rental company. Hunger games, to my knowledge, only had the Dolby digital audio on all rental discs. Hd audio was only available on the home version. I have also seen other things left off of rental discs, such as director cuts and extended versions.
