Any 24bit for streaming support for the P1 or A1? I love that the A1 has a built-in phone pre, very cool. Also, is there support for crossover settings on the main output/sub output? Thanks2 Channel - Polk SDA-2BTL, Carver TFM-35, Peachtree iDAC, Qobuz streamed via Episode Lynk using bubble UPnP server

When might we see some more in depth documentation regarding that would allow us information on how to integrate into our "traditional" 2C and HT systems?

What kind of dac chips is this using ? Would have been nice if the outdoor speakers where weather "proof" instead of weather "resistant".
Also, does this system set up it's own wi-fi network or work off your existing ? Is there another way to control this system for those without a smart phone ?HT SYSTEM-

You can always use that new 3m spray to waterproof them... the stuff really works

Here's a question/comment from WilliamM2:
"No offense, but did I read the specs right? 2" full range drivers? I don't think it matters if it does high res. at that point." -
One from tonyb:
"Haven't tried many, but the products with built in amps like those from Sonos, the ZP120 for instance, sounded like dog poo to me. The actual digital transmission of music files is the easy part, between the digital files and the speakers are what constitutes some attention in my book. A small integrated attached to most digital transmission devices can still put out some decent SQ. Hopefully the Omni will be up to snuff for the SQ crowd."
Has Polk made a dog poo amp? -
Here's one from Mikey081057 who asks:
"I was trying to determine the differences between the Omni P1 and the Def W Adapt and besides the visual difference the only thing I see is that the W Adapt has a hard wire ethernet jack and the P1 does not... Is that true Ken? So if you are bent on wiring everything you can then you would need the W Adapt."
Good question! -
I don't know Ken, never heard any of Polks amps.....aside from the ones in their subs and powered speakers, and those I can honestly say were not up to snuff. Hopefully the digital amps in the Omni will be different.
We don't know that though because specs....I can't find. What dac chips are they using ? Speaker drivers ? Which digital amps are used ? Does this work off it's own wi-fi or do you use your existing ? Weather "resistant" doesn't mean weather "proof". Screen shots of the software ? Some reviews ?
Another reason I'd be hesitant is that wireless hasn't been Polk's strong suit given the past problems with wireless devices. Just being honest Ken, I'm a Polk fan boy at heart, just want to see them put their best foot forward so to speak. Don't take my criticism the wrong way.HT SYSTEM-

No problem, I just brought them to the thread that Polk's experts are going to address with a video exclusive to CP.

Microsoft isn't involved with these products so they should be OK...

If I am playing content from an internet station/service or my NAS, does my smart phone/tablet have to be on to continue playing? In other words, if I start playing content from my phone, and it leaves the network, does the content stop at that point?
-
Yes, the phone becomes in effect the download point. The downside to that is the phone going out of the network, but if you are listening to music at home, and you have a good router, you should be all set. If you leave the house, someone else will have to stream from their phone. One way I get around this is I often use the tablet app and just leave the tablet home. No issues.
The positive to this is that no accounts are tied to the actual speaker system, and anyone who has a smart device can stream from their own account of their own streaming services. A few competitors have tied accounts which can get annoying if your spouse or kids start adding and moving around stations on your accounts. Won't happen on this system. -
I currently have the Omni S1 and a P1 on it way. My question is how do I load my own music into the Polk Omni app?
Thanks in advance,
Bill -
Hi Bill,
Let me ask the guys at Polk and I'll let you know.
Cheers, Ken -
Hello,
The application is placed on whatever device you have your stored music with; smart phone, pad or PC. Give Polk's wireless support a call at 1-800-638-7276 and they'll walk you through it.
Best regards, Ken -
I'll check on that.
-
Hello,
Here is the reply I received from Polk:
"The speakers will play Up to 16-bit/48kHz (CD Quality) All format bitrates [kbps]. In .m4a, mp3, flac, and wav file formats. If he is streaming music from his PC jriver then it will work just fine."
Regards, Ken -
You're welcome!
-
Thank you Ken. The S1 rocks. Waiting for the P1 to arrive.

I don't remember this thread, but I do feel that if you guys really want to make Club Polk exclusives like this, you should create a dedicated sub-forum for it. I think it is a really cool feature and could bring back some of that team mentality that I think a lot of members have felt over the years. Something like this simply getting lost in the shuffle doesn't accomplish any of that.
Agreed, I think the forums really need a wireless specific sub forum. The category has a lot of particular questions.
