Not unreasonable -- have you ever heard a pair.
I'd advise you to try before you buy.

350 is High, IMO.
If they were mint, maybe $200+. But, personally, I wouldn't pay more than $150, but then again, I don't particularly care for Heresys. Too :bright and thin sounding, definitely must have TUBES on them!
And they're really more for "collectors". And collectors seem to think these things are worth $300. I simply CANNOT agree!

Agree with this - it's about right - not a deal by any means. Also agree with cnh - Heresy's while technically probably accurate, are very bright sounding to my ears - I don't find them particularly "musical" or easy to listen to for any period.
If you really want to know the going market - check eBay for completed listings. Takes out the guesswork.

No, they're not accurate -- very limited HF and LF response, an aggressiveupper MR peak and very harsh sounding MR and HF horns. Last time I looked though, they tend to go for about 400/pr on the open market, and their big brothers (the Cornwalls) for about 800/pr.
In the interest of full and complete disclosure, I owned and used a pair of Cornies for a decade; sold 'em off quickly after acquiring a pair of Altec Valencias.
There is a substantial cottage industry devoted to upgrading the "Heritage" Klipsch speakers -- and for good reason, I'd opine.
The Heresys and Cornies do have the advantage of being affordable high sensitivity speakers for those who have - or want to try - fleapower amplifiers such as SE amps using direct heated triodes (e.g. , 45 or 2A3) for power output. Indeed, IMO, they'll sound about as good as they're going to sound with such amps (although I must admit the best I ever heard my own Cornies sound was being powered by a beautiful Marantz 8B PPEL84 stereo power amp).

It's not who wants to pay how much but what their market value is.
I sold mine for $280 so $350 is little on the high side depending upon condition.
Sound wise, they are too bright for me and lack bass completely.

I had the kg4's back in the early 90's and really like them. Had them hooked up to Adcom separates. Never listen to the Hersey. I'll go look at them tomorrow and if in good shape i'll offer 250. That you gentlemen

Id like to hear what you think on them.... I have had them both & they are both great speakers. I tried the Heresy's on a Marantz 2252b & it was ok. Sounded a tab better on the smaller HK??? 30-40wpc amp. The KG4's if placed right sounded much better to my ears & probably the better of any Klipsch speaker i myself have heard. But then again ive never heard them with tubes WHICH id love to hear someday..

I own a pair of KG-4 (in storage currently) and thought i wanted a pair of Heresy once.... until I listend to them. I actually listened to a pair while I was purchaseing the guys 1C's. We A/B'd them on his gear and he had just gotten tthe Heresy and needed the Polks out of his way. I thought to myself, Holy Creap let me pay this guy and get gone before he chjanges his mind! I absolutley could not believe he was swapping the 1C's for the Heresy's. They sounded AWEFUL to my ears. I found NOTHING I liked about them other than their appearance. The KG4's , or KG series for that matter are totrally different animals from the heresy'd, Cornawalls, etc. No comparison whatsoever. I do indeed like the KG 4's, even better than the Polk 1C's But could not stand to listen to the Heresy's for more than about 20 seconds.
Good luck either way. Many people like them (though I do not know why after listening to them) Just as many really love their 1C's and i am not a fan of those too much either (though they are in NO way as bad as the Klipsh). If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of Progress?!

Agree completely on the KG series - even the KG2 paired with a nice sub is a pretty good sound. Don't forget, the Heresy was essentially designed as a compliment to the Kilpschorn, almost as center channel, not as a stand alone speaker initially. Bass response starts in the very high 50db level as I recall. Highly efficient speaks as previously mentioned though.VA HT HK AVR20II, Sony S9000ES CD/DVD/SACD, Polk Audio RC80i / Polk Audio CSi3, 60" Panasonic Plasma, Nordost / Signal Cable A2 / Wireworld / Pangea / Magic Power

The Chorus II was a pretty nice loudspeaker... I could live with a pair of those if I had to...

WOW, your rite they are very bright. My kg4's where way better then the Heresy. The guy came down to 250 and i had to say no. They are in good shape but way tooo bright. I like old rock and the Heresy would make ears bleed at loud volume. thanks for reply guys...One more thing, they did sound good at low volume but i don't play my music that low

If you don't have them already - you need some Monitor 10's or 7's. Great rock speakers - they're the ones that gave me the Polk bug way back when. For that kind of coin you can even get into 2b's.

For rock, get JBL L100t or t3 (not the regular small L100) or L150 or Klipsch Forte/chorus/cornwall.
It's hard to beat them but you are looking at at least $400 and up.Post edited by Mystery on
