Just wondering if your kids prefer to listen to the HT system rather than the tv speakers. I have a 4 year old son who loves to watch the "Dinosaurs" (jurasic park 1,2,3) "loud" (HT system). On the other hand, the wife, could care less on the sound, typical, right?

My nine year old has a system in his room, he has taken a major liking to audio including two channel and ht. He just needs a small powered sub ( about an 8 inch) and he is set for a while,we are trying to find him a small center channel on the cheap. His older and younger sibling hang out in there all the time to watch the boob with him. He is running a pioneer pro logic unit, hitachi hifi vcr,rca mains( that came with the all in one unit he got last christmas), and some small rca surrounds. Overall it sounds pretty darn good."Its worked so far but we're not out yet."

Our kids have their own, all be it basic, HT set-up in the basement recroom. It consists of a:
Tosh 27AF53 TV,
Denon 1801,
Toshiba DVD player,
Mitsubishi S-VHS VCR,
Sony Sat reciever,
Polk RT35i's in front,
CS245i center,
RT25i's in the rear,
and a PSW350.
Of course they have two game systems hooked up to it also. They really enjoy watching movies, TV shows, and playing their games through the surround system. My daughter even has her own 2 channel rig in her bedroom w/a pair of R10's so she can 'escape' and listen to her music. The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree for lots of us. I wouldn't call it being spoiled, it's all a part of proper upbringing and setting a good example. I just hope the upgrade bug doesn't bite them.:D -
The first time I set up a HT, I put Jurassic Park in for the kids (in vcr). They had SEEN it a thousand times, But never HEARD it.
Now they don't even wanna watch tapes, they want all dvd's. The boy has set up one of my older receivers in his room.
I am building a game center for the little tykes in the attic. 32" WS tube tv, sattelite receiver, Denon 1802, RM 6000's, Playstation, Gamecube, Xbox, and Playstation 2.
Now maybe they'll leave my rig alone...:) -
My son's grandma asked my son to turn the tv down...and asked wy he had it so loud- " I'm trying to get it to sound like Daddy's" oops! gotta love it. He's spoiled in Audio all the way around.@!

Once they play PS2 on 120" diagonal, the direct views just don't get turned on anymore!
My 20 somethings are PO'd that the lone teen left at home gets all the good stuff with our new HT. We do have 5 surround setups, Main HT, living room and 3 BRs.

I'm not spoiled on HT sound.......
Not at all......- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
I'm just doing 2-ch HT, but my 3yr old loves it. Every time she hears the DD fade she goes "Wow" and smiles big.Make it Funky!

No kiddos running around here, but the wife is spoiled for sure.
It was just in the past couple weeks or so, and time to watch NYPD Blue (one of the few TV programs we regular), and I didn't fire up the rig, just went with the TV speakers.
Not 10-15 seconds into the opening, BIG mistake on my part, which was promptly brought to my attention, and remedied immediatley.
Something along the lines of "Come on, the theme sounds like **** - GIVE ME MY THEME PROPER".
Cheers,

Kids are 6 and 8 and make no mention of the sweet audio quality yet. One day it'll happen though.:)

Training the 3 month old now...when he grows up he might inherate some good vintage gear and start a new traditionLife without music would♭

My 3 year old tried to kick me off the HT while I was watching Nascar on Sunday:( Fox needs ta get their act together!
for the 400th bazillionth time she wanted to watch Monster's Inc.
I put Sponge Bob on the 32 inch and she was not a happy camper.

Oh yeah my kids are spoiled. Especially now that the XBOX is hooked up to the HT and is in constant 5.1 DD.
Now they get PO'd when i tell them to turn it off and go through the regular TV speakers. -
I've got a Sony/Yamaha 5.1 DD Sysem in the bedroom comprised of old entry level stuff, and when my wife puts on one of the Disney movies for my 2yr. old daughter she compains when the THX trailer is not in Dolby 5.1 and makes her replay it with the right sound settings.2 Channel: Adcom GTP-450,Adcom GFA-555II,Denon DVD-1920,Denon DCD-610,Pro-ject Phono Box E, Music Hall MMF-2.3 SE with Music Hall Spirit, Klipsch RP-250f, Velodyne F-1200 sub

Oh God yes. My son won't watch TV in his room because he wants to watch "the big TV" and he can't hear it on his TV. Yeah, just like daddy. He likes it loud! LOLGo BIG or go home!

Make sure to teach your children the difference between loud and quality
Unfortunately, we've got too much loud and not enough quality in the mainstream audio biz.
I sound like an old man.
Dammit. hahahaLSi 9/C/FX
