problem with coil

Hey guys,
starting my restoration of a pair of Infinity RS IIIa's...The speaker must have fallen or something because the heavy 40 mH coil was torn off the crossover and ended up on the bottom of speaker...problem is that when it got torn off one of the leads about 3 inches in there is a twisted kink that i can't get out...
from what i understand i just can't cut 3 inches off it without effecting the ohm rating, second is I'm having trouble finding a replacement...
any ideas/ thoughts...?

Hello,
It is very doubtful that removing 3" of the leads will effect the DC resistance or the inductance of the coil enough to be heard. There was probably an overall acceptable tolerance when Infinity made the coil and I'm sure you will still be within those limits. If you want to send it to me I can measure the inductance and make sure you're okay.

thanks ken, I appreciate that....all things being equal should i remove the same amount from the other speaker...? if i had to uncoil some to do this i would be more nervous and would definitely send it to you but i won't have to, the leads are quite long...Marantz 1152 DC- Denon DP 1200, Soundsmith Carmen MKII- ADS L980 - Blue Jeans IC's

I don't believe that would be necessary, just reinstall the coil and take a listen.
