I have family in the area so I sent an email asking if the price should have been $5000. This is the reply I got:

No typo. The gear is worth far more than that (an order of magnitude at least) but my primary goal was to sell it quick (hence the fire sale price) because I promised my wife I would get rid of it as it's sitting in the basement doing nothing.

I tell you, I once got burned on an out of state craigslist purchase because the guy came across as a wealthy person with audio gear he did not need. I heard that sometimes some just want to get rid of things...either via donation, free if you come and get it today or for super low giveaway prices. It does happen sometimes but not too often.

Someone got lucky this time I guess. Would have been interesting to have got in on that deal. Man, there was another sale I missed in the past month also. I wonder how much the stuff sold for?...it was an estate sale in my home state. I used to live a few miles away from the city the sale was held.

The guy was good....he had stories for days. His M.O. was that he was divorced from a wealthy Exec of a large audio chain. Stated that they built a huge home with audio systems throughout the house. Made it seem like when the dust settled on the divorce that he had some of the gear he was not using. Claimed to have had six of the SVS subs and was down to the last one. Also, stated he had a few of the Onkyo AVR's and would throw in one because I seemed to be an enthusiast...he wanted it to go to someone that really appreciated it.

Well, that was one stupid things I did....but found at least six or seven deals out of state on CL. Including my 3008 AVR. My 5008 and all the Polks, the TV were found on CL within driving distance. Thank GOD for craigslist! The total cost of my HT was super low.

The listing was for a lot of audio gear, well worth at least 5,000, can't bring it back up. I wish I had saved a screen shot, it was a stupid good deal.
