Mr. Bubbles

Over last weekend I went to several thrift stores and yard sales, etc. Ended up with a pair of JBL L65's and a pair of Genesis Physics model 1's. The Genesis' appear to have had surrounds replaced many years back with rubber surrounds. Cabinets a little rough due to the vinyl laminate flaking around the edges but overall in good shape. The JBL L65's are a little rougher, missing the glass tops and 1 grille. Surrounds need replaced and a ding in one cabinet, but not too bad overall. All drivers appear to be ok. Don't know how I will like either model but for the $60 bucks for both pair, I figured they would be worth tinkering with.

Is anyone familiar with either of these and or have any thoughts on them?

That is the speakers. but my L65's are laid out slightly different with the adjustable pots on the left habd side , the mid shifted to the right a bit and the port on the bottom left. Not exactly sure of why changes were made but i assume mine to be earlier versions and that maybe the one you show in the above pics were changed to reduce bass boominess and align the mid better with the woofer.

(FWIW) - I like the Genesis 1 quite a bit -- sister company (daughter company, more accurately) to EPI (Epicure); a pair resides here in perpetuity as part of the New England loudspeaker collection -- and even gets played on occasion.

The JBLs? Not a fan, but de gustibus non est disputandum*, of course.

* which is, in essence, Latin for YMMV ; - )
