I am sure you guys have seen this already but looks like CD Japan is reissuing previously released SHM SACDs. The price is cheaper too at 3500 yen (plus 10% bonus points). Ship date is Nov. 26 and conditional on #orders received. There were a few I missed first time around so placed an order.

That irks me a bit for two reasons. It makes the value of the originals less and the price of these are much less than the originals.

I wonder if these will be in the original packaging or the newer version?

I seriously doubt it will be the original packaging, but I have been suprised before.....

Definatley a cool thing for those who missed out the first time. I may actually pick up "Queen A Night At The Opera" On SHM-SACD, if they re-issue it?

Bummer, not on the list?? Why?

For those who still buy SACDs this is a good deal. I think I paid around $50 for the 4-5 I bought in the past.

Someone from the Hoffman forum enquired about this with CD Japan. The lower priced SHM SACDs will have regular jewel cases. The descriptions for each album on the website have been updated and state this as well.

For those of you who have ordered from CDJapan before are there any additional shipping charges other than what comes up on the shipping calculator- such as import fees? Also do these jewel case releases have regular album art/inserts, I can't tell from research I have done.

I am considering some of the Dire Straits and Rolling Stones releases.

    Thanks

In all the years I've been ordering from CDJapan, I have never been charged customs fees.

I couldn't tell you first hand what comes with these reissues, but I would venture to say they would have the regular album art/inserts. Why wouldn't they!?!

    Thanks F1.

No reason they wouldn't that I know of. I was just reading on the SH Forum about them and there was a comment about making inserts for the jewel cases and since I have never ordered ordered from them I wanted to make sure.

Any particular of their shipping options preferred?

Simm, if one of the Dire straits releases you are considering is the Brothers In Arms SHM-SACD, I have one for sale in the Flea Market. It is in absolutely like new condition and there is absloutley no difference between the new copy and my copy, guranteed. If you are interested in it, please PM me.

I have the BIA 25th anniversary hybrid SACD which I am pretty happy with. I have no SHM SACD's so if I do order some it will be my first experience. Have you compared your BIA to the hybrid version?

I purchased several SHM-SACDs from CDJapan on Friday night last week, which was my first order from them. They arrived on Tuesday via FedEx. Cost worked out to be under $30 each including shipping and all came in the regular CD jewel cases and case inserts, plus the Obi strips which I'll probably store separately in a folder somewhere rather than tossing them out.

Cool. The prices just keep getting better and better. Which ones did you get Emlyn?

Seven altogether from Dire Straits, Steely Dan, Asia and The Police. Way better pricing than the inflated prices charged in the U.S., and excellent customer service too.

I haven't checked the exchange rates, but maybe the strong value of the Dollar recently has something to do with the cost.

Is it blasphemy that I have never heard an SACD? This might be a good way for me to pick up a few of them. I will check other postings to see which recordings are highly recommended.

Blasphemer! Well, no. Some (most?) people don't like listening to more than two channels of music. Quadraphonic failed. SACD failed as well I guess.

Looks like a Dollar would buy around 75 Yen in 2012, and the exchange rate is around 120 Yen to a Dollar now.
