The Bottlehead S.E.X. 2.1 is up and running - sans the C4s board that blew during testing because of a bad tube but....DAMN she's nice sounding.
Top isn't much to scream about...
But she's busy underneath!

No....this one only took two tries but I did spend too much time on it last night and lost track of the heater wire...whoops. I started with Crack, had a Quickie, then Stereomour, then Reduction, then QuickSand...now S.E.X...1,2,3,4,5,....hmmmm 6 I've done!
My original post - did the pictures show up? I just see thumbnails to click on at the bottom.

Kinda jealous of mhardy6647 - those are very nice! 300b's?Aaron

2A3 -- those are the very original Paramours.
I have a very original Seduction, too (first production kit he shipped, in fact... to my wife as a birthday present for yrs. trly!)... but I don't seem to have any photos of it on Flikr.
I like the simpler Bottlehead stuff the best.
Speaking of which, I have a Quickie to build, one of these days...

Looking great! Nice Job! I love what you did with the frame!
I hope to do a Reduction one day for fun!
If it wasn't for that fact I love my WOO WA3 I would have done a Crack for my Senn HD650's2 ch- Polk CRS+ * Vincent SA-31MK Preamp * Vincent Sp-331 Amp * Marantz SA8005 SACD * Project Xperience Classic TT * Sumiko Blue Point #2 MC cartridge
HT - Polk 703's * NAD T-758 * Adcom 5503 * Oppo 103 * Samsung 60" series 8 LCD -
Once you've had Crack...you never go back.
My brother cuts the frames for me - that one is cherry with some fairly heavy stain.Aaron

.... then Reduction....
With Integration. Thats a buck 79 upgrade.
I dig them 6EM7 tubes. I once had a tube amp that used them as input tubes.

FWIW: I have used 6EM7s as the inputs (drivers) in my "Redboy" built (somewhat modified) JE/Angela Labs Simple 2A3 amp, as well.
-
now If I built a "Reduction" and I use a MM cartridge like the Ortofon 2m then would I be better off not using the upgrade? Is the upgrade more for MC ?2 ch- Polk CRS+ * Vincent SA-31MK Preamp * Vincent Sp-331 Amp * Marantz SA8005 SACD * Project Xperience Classic TT * Sumiko Blue Point #2 MC cartridge

The Integration upgrade to the Reduction isn't just gain but yields sonic improvements as well. IIRC you only get another 4dB gain with the Integration upgrade to the 36dB of the standard Reduction. High Output MC will work with 40dB gain (like 2.5mV minimum output) with a cartridge impedance of 47K ohms.
We used my diy SUT (step up transformer) with my low output MC (.3mV) with Aaron's Reduction with Integration upgrade in my system. It worked great and sounded stellar. Of course an SUT must be matched to a LOMC cartridge for impedance and gain.Salk SoundScape 8's * Audio Research Reference 3 * Bottlehead Eros Phono * Park's Audio Budgie SUT * Krell KSA-250 * Harmonic Technology Pro 9+ * Signature Series Sonore Music Server w/Deux PS * Roon * Gustard R26 DAC / Singxer SU-6 DDC * Heavy Plinth Lenco L75 Idler Drive * AA MG-1 Linear Air Bearing Arm * AT33PTG/II & Denon 103R * Richard Gray 600S * NHT B-12d subs * GIK Acoustic Treatments * Sennheiser HD650 * -

6DN7's in here - looks just like the 6EM7's in the picture.

Yep - high gain MC's only need apply. The Reduction isn't really designed for MC carts at all.Aaron
