Salvaging Pictures From Old Forum

I had a master plan allowing everyone to retrieve important pictures from the old forum, in case they no longer had copies on their computer, using the Internet Archive. Unfortunately, every thread I have tried isn't retrievable. You can go back to a certain date to retrieve. Maybe someone else will have more luck than I did.

Why care if Polk doesn't? It's their loss, not ours. If they really cared, they would have made it happen and they didn't. It was their choice to let the archived stuff go.

I as well as several others care a lot. There was a huge wealth of information on there with photos. It will be a shame if all of it remains lost.

I am sure several of us will give up and leave it they don't do something about it.

I don't know if all pics are fixed, but I just went back to the old thread where I could not get the pictures to work a few days ago, and lo and behold they are there. Also checked the schematics files in the Vintage Speakers section, and they now work rather than trying to make you download a file with a gibberish extension.

    Progress of sorts.
  • It will come around. They couldn't migrate everything overnight and have it work turnkey. I think that what is missing is some periodic updates on what issues are being dealt with. I am sure that its a big job. The one thing that always goes away with software upgrades is the comfort zone.

It would sure be a shame to lose all of Rick88's wealth of "information and photos" from past posts! :'(

Agreed 110%... there are about a dozen long time contributors that surely know the new site is up that have just walked away.

I know you are one that cares a lot too. I have learned so much on here and have improved my enjoyment of music a lot from you guys.

I truly hope they recover the info in some way!!

Because of this place, and more importantly, the PEOPLE that made Club Polk what it is, I have built my system to what it is, constructed two of the coolest tube amps on the PLANET (if I do say so myself) restored a few pairs of vintage Polks and Magnepans... the list is endless actually. Polk was a place for audio brothers and the occasional sister or two, to hang out, learn, grow and HELP one another.

This version of the Polk Forum is a shell of what it was and what it could be again. This feels corporate, sterile, and passionless. This is not about the music anymore... I don't know what it is anymore, but for the past 6 months or so, all I see and hear about have nothing to do with audio, unless it comes from an I-pod or game console and headphones.

Sadly, at this point I think this is a futile endeavor.
