Help!! which power amplifier for my RTI-12

Hello everyone.
I made my decision to buy a power amplifier.
Now the question is Which brand or model?
It would be for my RTI-12 that as everyone knows demans much power.
I will used it to listen music,
In the forum I read that every recommended EMOTIVA XPA-2, however I would like to hear opinions about other brands that do not exceed the range of $ 1,000.

Finally, on Ebay I have a lot of options but used ones. It is a bad idea to buy a used amplifier? How common is damaged amplifiers?

Greetings to all.

I got a pair of RTI12's coming on Thursday. I was looking at amps too. Decided to go slow and get a Parasound 2125v2 now. Run them at 150 wpc for a couple months while the wallet recuperates and then I'll get a second 2125v2 and run them both bridged at 400 wpc.
    Psyched.

Just be careful as some amps when bridged do not like to see signal go lower than 6-8 ohms. When they start dipping into 4-3 ohms you could have some trouble.

Yep, and the 12's certainly dip. Most amps in Bridged mode sound like horse **** in the higher frequencies too.

Thanks for the advices, but I think in the case of XPA-2 would not need to make the bridge as they are 2 independent channels right ??

But the cost fo the Parasound 2125v2 is very similar to the EMOTIVA XPA-2 (750vs900)??
What´s the deal to buy 2 Parasound??

The deal is explained already....plus the Parasounds are a better sounding amp with RTI's anyway than Emo. Buy one bigger Parasound rather than 2 smaller ones bridged.

    Ugh. Got me scared now.

The specs on Parasound's site state "400 watts x 1 bridged into 8 Ω or 4 Ω" so I'm hoping the impedance won't be a problem since they are specifically rated for 4 ohm in bridged mode.

However, @tonyb 's comment regarding the sound quality has me equally concerned, perhaps even more so.

The amp is already ordered and I just verified it already shipped. So I need to decide whether I chance it or return it and eat the shipping. I guess i can hook it up to one speaker in bridge mode and see what it sounds like and then make a decision.

You can try one channel in bridged mode with the amp you have to see if you like it. For me personally, I've never heard a bridged amp that sounded better than non bridged.

Always compare....take the exact same amp and listen to it bridged and unbridged. Betcha overall you'll choose the unbridged version. Couple variables to consider, but generally speaking for overall SQ.

I started out with Outlaw M2200s powering my RTi12s. They are very nice amps for the buck. I personally love IceAmps like Wyred4Sound and D-Sonic. Check this out.

Pioneer uses IceAmps in their receivers and have been for awhile now. I've been sold on Iceamps since owning my SC07. I love the sound of my D-Sonic amp on my 12s. Very good performance.

    Hi

I have the RTI12's and I first got the Parasound 2125 and it did okay but never went too loud. I then got an Adcom 585 and it works great with the 12's both amps are on the warm side and that is good for the 12's. I have read in many places that the Emotiva will be a bit bright and the 12's also are on the bright side.

    Cheers

For the most part they will have similarities across the board. Performance will vary from manufacturer to the next. I'd agree with that, but some of the top ones would be Bel Canto, W4S, D-Sonic, Red Dragon.

The D-Sonic amps are fabulous. Dennis uses a new module from Abletec for his 2 channel, mono blocks, & the L/R main channels in his multi-channel amps. He still uses the ICE Modules for his surround channels though.

I think the thread is a bit derail with the ICE amp comments good info by the way. But I have seen threads like this one get a lot of advise for the OP from Polkies on this site, but this new format really sucks and does not help anyone.

Not even Polk I don't think they know how low they are gone. If you do a search on google now for lets say Polk SDA SRS the fist hits are from AudioKarma what happened to Polk Audio Forum they always the first one's and with the correct info and created new customers

My advice for those RTI12's if you can find a pair of Adcom's 565 just get them and enjoy them..................Cheers.......:')

Lets get back in and help the OP.
