PSW 505 X2
My system
Yamaha rxv861
Acurus 2X150
RTI A5 Fronts powered by the Acurus
SC-C for Centre
RC55i for surround in ceiling
RC65i for rear surrounds
(1) PSW 505
I have an Onkyo TXn929 on its way to replace the intolerable brightness of the Yamaha. I will still use the Acurus to power the fronts.
Any opinions on running a pair of PSW505's? I thought it would be a bit of a poor man's version to balance out the base in my less than perfect HT room.
The room is 20X16 with a set of stairs coming in and out of it and a walk out patio.
4level split home.
Any help is appreciated thanks in advance

I run a pair of 505's in my home theater setup and it sounds pretty good. I would really like to get a much better sub, I think going with a better unit it would be pretty easy to go with a single. But recently I have been concentrating on my two channel setup, but after the first of the year I think I am going to look at a different sub.Home Theater

I would suggest looking at something like a power sound audio sub instead of the PSW505. I have the PSW505 and it, frankly, doesn't sound that great. It's not crisp enough for real tight bass required for music and doesn't have the guts for the real low stuff required for HT use. For decent HT volume it is left rattling and making a bunch of chuffing noise but not much else when asked to reach for the lower notes. I regret spending money on mine. Much better to spend the same money on one SVS or PSA sub.

I run 2 also.
My layout and setup they sound very good for HT, for music I just listen to my towers with sub off. No problem with chuffing or anything of that sort. They definitely do not go as low as I would like but i do enjoy them for what they are. I will get a SVS PB series by the end of the year, ultimately I am very satisfied.
Post script- SVS has a big sale on there pb/sb/pc series right for labir day.
The pb12 nsd for $499or less, hop this helps.

Thanks for all the responses. I have my new receiver and my pair of PSW 505's hooked up. This receiver is the real deal, Lively and full, the absolute oposite of my yammy.
The additional sub fills in the dead spots, and really evens out the room.
I will upgrade my sub(s) in the future but this will do just fine for now. -
Glad to hear itPolk Lsi9

Huge +1 to svs pb-1000 or the pb-2000. Or keep it budget friendly and grab a Dayton audio sub-1200. Both I prefer over the polk 505
