    What would be the smallest WPC that I would want to go in the Marantz line to still drive my SDA 2A's in a small room?

    I use my 30 watt tube amp in a small room and can't go past 11:00 on the vol k n o b.. watts don't mean squat and it is current that is the desirable quality. Provided the 2270 is in spec it will give you what you seek. The 2270 is recognized as one the best of the 22xx receivers

    I hooked up my Marantz 1060 (30wpc) and 1150 (75wpc) on my 1Cs and CRS+ and liked them a lot. Never really yearned for more power.

    As with all polk (vintage) speakers imho and experience "the mo power the better, you cant have too much power for them only too little!!! They may work with less however with more they will "get up and dance"! So give them as much as you can afford and go from there! I have driven my rta12c's with 100w, 200w, 280w , 400w and now 500w. 500w is much better!!!

    I hooked my Marantz 2252b @52wpc to my 2b's it was ok at low volume but as i raised it to 10:30-11:00 on the dial it just sounded distorted,like it was going to start to clip. 15mins later i hooked up a Yamaha Cr1040 @80wpc & it did pretty good surprisingly. Ive played around some, but find its just better with more power as we all read here.
