So today, I took my Marantz 2385 out of the case and rack and did about as good of a job cleaning the volume pot with Deoxit gold as I could There is a port in the back or the pot, and upon further inspection i could see that as i rotate the pot, it seems to open the port up for better access I guess... None the less it is very clean and quiet now.

After testing, I put it back together and back into it's place in the case and rack. As reward for my toils, I decided to hook it up to my SDA SRS 2.3's and give it a listen.

WOW !!!

This is really a treat and if I had this rig back in the 80's... Vintage big boy Marantz sound on Vintage Polk SDA's... Just heavenly...

But I have a question... I am trying to think of a way to minimize my number of speaker cable swaps and would ask some advice...

Can I connect my tube amp and my SDA's to one set of speaker connections and my Marantz to the other set. I KNOW I can't play them both at the same time!!!! I have both devices connected from the direct out of my 2100 pre connected to an RCA A/B so both cannot power the SDA's at the same time. But do I have any risk here other than having both connected and turned on at the same time? I don;t have any kids that can screw it up and I normally unswitch the speakers when I turn the Marantz off, but can I do any harm by connecting them in this fashion... I am more worried about turning my tube amp on with no load if I would have them unconnected from the tube amp.I would certainly like to not have to crawl around every time I want to listen to a different amp.

Is there a decent speaker selector switch with a load that I can connect decent cables to?

So is their a way to do it? I really like the way they sound on both units... and flipping cables is a pain the the *** (that really looks like three of what I can't say ) I've been looking at switchers

yup - buy a switch box -- which you might need to use "backwards" depending on its construction, or a DPDT switch (or two, or 4P4T for stereo) -- a Frankenstein-style knife switch lends a nice mad scientist ambience.

Now that would work... wish I could find one for 2 amps 1 pair of speakers and would have a dummy load on the un connected pair (for tube amps).

I looked at niles and russound... is their anybody else?

Looks like the adcom is for 1 amp to 3 pairs of speakers... didn't realize but adcom is right around the corner from me..The beresford seems to be the right connection... I can do 2 amps and 2 pairs of speakers...and it has nice binding posts

Adcom also has a 6 speaker model as does my Niles SP-6. Both models are for 1 amp only and also come w/ a protection circuit switch for running multiple sets of speakers.The Niles can take 12gu bare wire and has spring loaded tabs. I've been told that the Adcom while it may look like it can not take banana plugs only bare wire. Not sure about running mutiple amps. It really is a nice Marantz....

So I ordered the Beresford... it should do the job, and looks to be pretty well made.It will allow me to change between both sets of speakers and both amps. I have a lot of decent 12g cable and terminations and I will wire em up and see....and BTW Deoxit gold is the best stuff on earth.... Volume pot is like new.

67 is a "sweet ride", had a 69 years back.. Always wanted a 63 split window...Ole beater 76/L82 is all I still have..Unloaded the 94 ZR1 last year.
