Help: vandalized/ shuttered window can cause damaged to the window reg?
Had a shop replaced a shuttered window that was vandalized recently with an aftermarket driver side window. OEM window is just way expensive so I went ahead with a non-OEM, now my window regulator is acting up. I called the shop and told them that they should warrant the work. Perhaps there was a flaw during the installation, mis alignment... Etc.
The shop said that regulator usually fail after an abrupt force on a window like what happened to mine so they couldn't warrant the fix. I questioned this so I seek any advice and thoughts from the forum. Thank you.

All 2cents are appreciated. Cheers

I've got to side with the shop in this situation. So many unknowns, plus you had them go with an aftermarket, so they could argue improper fit. Why not a used oem window? And also, your drivers window is the most used window in the vehicle, so it's most likely the one for a motor/regulator to fail.

It is likely that your comp coverage would have paid for the replacement glass, and thus any issues that would have come up, provided you have it of course.

I'm thinking "aftermarket" was not the best idea -- was that mandated by your insurance (i.e., did they cheap out on you)?

Insurance only covers the aftermarket. It's a Honda Ody 2006.

Sounds like the replacement glass might be too thick for the frame. I have seen a similar issue with aftermarket glass in Subaru and some GM products. Even a millimeter is enough to mess things up.
