How do you repair a scratch on the gray part of speaker ?

Under the grill of the speaker, there is a small scratch on the dark gray area around the driver.

According to Polk support, this plate is made of painted MDF so it can't be sanded down.

How do you fix this scratch ?

Is there matching touch up paint for scratches like this ?

I do not know how close to the color it would be but, Sharpie makes a silver marker to use on dark backgrounds.

As for your other problem call Polk and see if they could send out the post for the grill. Just a thought.

This thread is marked, "Answered".....really? Who decides that because I'm not seeing that the OP's questions were answered, rather a few suggestions were offered. More useless c r a p from a piss poor format.

A silver Sharpie will stand out like a sore thumb on that gray paint. The only way to match the color is if you could get the original paint code or maybe have a finishing shop or auto paint shop try to match it. To fill the area, use Bondo or wood epoxy.

That said, unless you know what you're doing you will make it worse. Put the grill on and forget about.

Polk should sell touch up pens for just this problem.

Is there a specific name for this color gray ?

    1) I went to a crafts store and found a few silver metallic pens, but none of them matched.

    2) I asked the Polk parts and service department if there was a color code, but was told it was a dark gray.

    3) I took the speaker to a hardware store to buy paint that would be color matched, but they said they couldn't mix a metallic paint. The paint rep at the hardware store recommended going to a hobby shop.
