Thoughts on work office rig?

Looking to put together something small for my office at work...

Thinking Polk TSi100's from the Polk Ebay store:

TSi100's in Cherry

+ Qinpu A6000 mk ii tube integrated amp from Amazon:

A-6000

I have a budget of $400 and this seems to fit very nice. I have a power workstation with a great sound card, so I'm not too worried about an external DAC.

Thoughts?

I have a quinpu a3 in my office rig and it is cool.
Check out the audioengine P4's as they may be better for nearfield listening.

The A3 P4 combo would work fine but exceed your budget by a few bucks:-)
Audioengine also has soom cool active speakerscwhere you dont need an amp.

just curious how you ended up going w/ the A3 over the A6000? the A6000 looks like it has double the output for only $50 more.

watts don't mean alot when it comes to tubes...I don't know if the a6k was around when i bought mine. I originally bought it just for my headset at my desk...

The amp look school but I don't have any experience with it. I personally would be dissapointed with the speakers however. I demoed the Tsi200s way back and they're okay but nothing more. WIth speakers I don't see any reason not to go used. The oldie but goodie RTi25s will smoke those TSis, and you can get a used pair for about the same shipped price on ebay. They will have much better bass, wider stage, better extension and detail, better well everything. And I really enjoyed them as nearfield monitors. I also really enjoy my Topping TP20-MK2 amp. With the savings you could get a little sub or up your ante on speakers.

I think you would be better off looking for some used rti bookshelves or maybe even some old school monitor 4 . Im currently using some monitor 4 speakers as desk speakers and they sound pretty nice. I've listened to the tsi series of speakers and was quite disappointed.

Nice I ordered a set too after giving my black ones up to my nephew... they really work nice on a desk ... if you don't like them... return em...

I second a recommendation for older RTi bookshelf speakers. The RT25i was a gem, 35 is better if you have the space.

Over your budget but thought I would throw this out there. For my desk system I am using a pair of TL3 Blackstone run off an Audioengine N22 and a HRT MSII with a PSW110 sub and love the sound. The N22 is class AB and the whole setup has a smooth sound I can listen to all day.

Ugh, the Qinpu that arrived yesterday was broken or defective.

Right channel output didn't work - either to headphones or speakers. Tried every troubleshooting method short of cracking it open.

Decided I'm just going to return it and picked up the matching Audio Engine N22 amp instead.

Should have known better when it comes to gear made in China

So I have had good luck with stuff from China... but I am sad to hear about your qinpu...I am very interested to hear your thoughts on the N22 as it has gotten many positive reviews.

Got my P4's today and hooked them up to my Qinpu/Dragonfly desktop rig. I am sure the drivers need a little time to break in...

They look very cool... the Bamboo cabinet in finish is different and very pleasing to the eye.

They sound much bigger than their small footprint would lead you to believe. A little bigger than your typical desktop near field speakers, but they sound bigger than typical desktop speakers. They sound good with female vocals.Addition of a small sub would help bring out the lows that a speaker of this size obviously cannot reproduce.

N22 is supposed to arrive this afternoon at my house, so I'll hook it up in the office tomorrow and give my initial impressions.

Huge relief that Amazon refunded my money for the Qinpu. Phew on that one!

I'm gonna see how good the onboard DAC in my machine is, but I'll probably get a Dragonfly or AE D3 as well.

Amazon is always good about refunds... Sometimes you just have to call them and give them a little noise....I've never had a problem with them.

BTW my Qinpu A6 with P4's can blow you out of the room.... Hopefully you put them in an office not a cubicle or you will have more pissed off neighbors...:)

Hehe. Yes I have an office thankfully. Wouldn't have bought them otherwise. Usually I'm the only person here in this remote office, so the speakers will hopefully bring me some joy....

Which Dragonfly are you running? Old v1 Blue? Or the new red one?

old v1... had it for a few years... I even washed it and ran it through the dryer... Still works...that's the problem with pocket sized stuff.

Wow! Just got into the office and hooked everything up.

The soundstage is amazing. I feel like sounds are coming at me from multiple different angles.

Bass is more or less what I expected. Probably gonna get a sub to match.

I might have to come to the office every day now!
