Used Vinyl

This is more of a question than an ad at this point but I thought I'd post it here to get the best answers.
I've got probably 3-400 LP's, mostly 70's and 80's rock with some other stuff as well. Most are in good to exellent condition. Probably nothing a good cleaning wouldn't fix.I type WAY to slow to try to put up a list.
Any suggestions as to how to proceed. I know a lot of you vinyl enthusiasts will say I'm nuts for selling. I just don't see returning to vinyl at this point and need to raise some funds for the sub fund.
What is a fair (CP) asking price?
How is the best way to pack and ship?
Are there any good webdites to determine values of possibly rare albums? I only ask this because I had heard a couple of albums could be collectable. Supposedly there were several versions of cover art for Zepplin's "In Through the Out Door". I think I also have 2 different covers of Foreigners "Double Vision".
Any input is greatly appreciated.

The best way I know of to determine value is to look on ebay at completed items. In general most lp's are worth $3 to $12 plus shipping if sealed. A little less if played but NM. Of course there are a few which can go in the $20 to $160 range but they are very rare and must have something special like being MFSL or something. Over all they were much cheaper than I had imagined when I got into this hobby!

    ken,
As max said, chances are if you have nothing but standard US releases there's nothing worth more than a few bucks in your collection, and likely many not over a buck.

For ones you suspect may be rare, ebay's a good option. Also check ebay stores for LP's. There are numerous publications on LP's value, but they can be out of date by the time the ink dries. I've not run across any on-line, but they must be around...

Best packing is in tightly fitting boxes letting the cardboard and LP's work together to protect the vinyl.

One suggestion is to bundle LP's by the same group/ artist. It'll keep your task simpler...
    More later,
    Tour...

Thanks for the replies guys. I looked a bit on Ebay and was disappointed to see lots of 80 and 90 albums going for like $10.
    Bummer. :(

It may be disappointing but look at it in another direction. If you were to get back into it you can still buy stuff cheap! When I got started in the vinyl again I had one still sealed lp in my collection. I thought that must be worth a mint. Obviously after buying 50+ more sealed ones for less than $200 I got used to the idea. Now I am picking up groups of lps (maybe 20 in a group, sometimes sealed) for 5 to 20 dollars and $5 shipping for the lot. You can't burn other peoples CD's for much less than that. The only problem is that you have to make a decent investment into a turntable that will bring them up to (or surpass) the quality of cd's. Fun hobby though!

Just looking at them I'd say good to excellent. Some of the covers corners are a little dinged but the vinyl looks good.

If you have any MFSL titles could you list those and give us first dibs? That's what I'd be most interested in.

MFSL - Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs
They're also know as MoFi. They released very high quality LP using original master tapes on virgin vinyl. The albums have "Original Master Recordings" printed on the top border.

    Ken, have any:

    Chicago
    Montrose
    Alex Harvey
    Beatles
    Earth, Wind and Fire

I'm real curious as to what your collection consists of!

As far as shipping I would double box them. And as Tour stated pack them tightly in the first box.
