Any Rotel RCD-955AX owners?

Well, it's been a week since I picked up the 955AX. It was a bit of an impulse buy but so far I've been pleasantly surprised.
The music appears to have more depth and there is a greater sense of separation especially between vocals and instruments.
It's only hiccuped on a couple of cd's so far. One cd has a lot of surface scratches and I'm not too surprised that it skipped/popped. The other cd is an old Nina Simone cd. The noise isn't so much a pop or a skip as it is some notes from the bass guitar which sound very jarring. I definitely don't hear this on the cd changer.
I hate this because now I'm wondering if it's because the Rotel playback is more accurate and that's what on the CD? or does the error correction on today's cheapo player surpass what was considered a very good player? or is it just rotel old and need a cleaning ? Sometimes I hate this hobby!
Can anyone comment on their experiences with this player?
Thanks
Dave

Well what I can tell you is you have a very good cd player. I have the 955ax and it sounds great, However it is only 4 times o.s and that could be what your hearing on some cds 8 times is used in most cd drives now but the 955ax also sounds much better than alot of the newer cd players by far. and it plays burned cds thats a plus for me! and your right it seems to pick out the flaws in some recordings. injoy
